I use to play the flute when I was in High School, but as soon as I graduated I just didn’t have time.   I have to admit that I miss playing the flute; it was always a treat to me being on stage performing and capturing a live audience. I would say that just for that reason music plays a huge role in my life; it captures moments, feelings, stories and stimulates a thought. There is always something for everyone and every mood. For me, its Latin music. Growing up in the United States, I really didn’t get introduced to Latin music until I reached my adolescence. It’s close to my roots and that is why it’s so meaningful. The Latin beats always cheer me up when I am down or need an extra boost for motivation. I also met my husband in a Latin Club; therefore Latin music plays a huge role in my life. So I ask you, what does music mean to you?

Music is everything to me.  I have 3000 CDs, albums and tapes.  Remember tapes?  Music has made me laugh and cry and sing and sometimes even fly.  My favorites are good old rock and roll, Celtic, and a touch of 1970s disco just for fun.  I can tell you the story of my life in the songs that were important at the time.  It's interesting to have a personal soundtrack. Anyone else have a soundtrack?

Music is so important in my life.  It transports me to a different world, it takes me away from the stress of work and traffic.  I play a cd on my hour drive home every day from work, and at home every day after eating dinner i watch a music dvd.  I think music dvd's are vastly under-rated, a lot of people dont even know they exist!  I have about 80 minimum music dvd's, mostly concerts, some collections of videos.  Its so great to see the concert in addition to hearing the music, and to hear it in surround sound is fantastic.  I think that more marketing should be put into music dvds, and I dont like them spread out among the cd's in the store, i would prefer them to be with the dvds all together in one aisle.  I love everything from pop to jazz, from Broadway to Sinatra.  If you have a good tv and sound system, a concert on dvd is more impressive than going to a live concert.  Its so great to say to my wife, what concert should we go to tonite, and then we just stay home and watch it on dvd.  Its like meditation to me, it just transports me to a different world.  I feel sorry for people who dont appreciate music.

Hey all!  Happy Nov 20 th to you all....Well what does music mean to me?  great question...

Laughter..Sadness...Longing for acceptance...Loneliness...Beauty....Memories of past experiences..

Dreams....just... Being....accepting a journey into the world of sonic indifference...no judgement..no pre conceived notions just me and the sound waves produced by the many musical geniuses of our lives...to quote AUGUST RUSH...it's everywhere  all you have to do is listen...

Flashback to 1970...

playing in my room in texas with my Hot Wheels collection....this hypnotic guitar melody floats into my head from the living room....What is that...Who is that?  Entering the living room I see my dad sitting in his recliner looking at a cardboard folder with a milion colors..an african american lady naked or semi clothed...and some crazy words on this cardboard open the world of music to me...

Santana Abraxas....I was hooked....herb alpert and the tijiuana brass...three dog night...

beach boys...jan and dean...the soundtrack to godspell....the school dance were I first heard Love Train....Sweet Home Alabama....

LATE SEVENTIES...

jr High dance...the sounds of Bachman Turner Overdrive...the smell of Love's Baby Soft..holding a girl for your first slow dance...The Doobie Bros...tune wafting thru shop class.."keep on rolling..Mississippi moon wont you keep on rolling"... 

high school  angst, acceptance... sitting in Drama class and we are all giving presentations...

a young lad steps to the edge of the stage and sits down with his accoustic guitar...he begins to play this amazing melody that is intertwined with this amazing poetry..."and she's buying a stairway to heaven.." ...Toys in the Attic...The fusion of symphony with rock of Electric Light Orchestra...

the hard rocking guitars of Cat scratch Fever and Ted Nugent and who could forget the Music of the bee gees and Saturday night fever and the fun of Grease....and OMG I lived thru DISCO! Bells bottoms

platform shoes polyester butterfly collars... 

and of course how many memories of great songs and the relationships they remind you of when you here them...the good and the bad.....

so many years (49) of some of the best music in this universe...

I look forward to the many amazing journeys that are to come....

Wow just thinking about it, music means everything to me! I have 1 ipod touch 8gb(full) and 1 2G 32gb(full) full of music, and music videos. I also play the drums. I love guitar hero world tour, if you didn't know you can have double bass on it. Its amazing. =] Whats killing me is I work at best buy, and they're playing a say that repeats "Do you see what I see? Do you see what I see? Time The Time... da da da," its a Chirstmas song, but when I hear a song that I cannot name it bugs me. So if anyone knows that song please tell me. I've searched and I get guys singing it, but its a girl singing it. =o

The song to which you refer is called "Do You Hear What I Hear?"  It's one of my all-time favorite Christmas songs and has dozens and dozens of performances.  My favorite is by Andy Williams.  Who is singing the one you heard, any idea?

It is one of my favorite Christmas songs as well. Since they're playing it now at our store, it bugs me that I do not know the name of the song. I heard it all last year during the Holidays. When I get home I'll see if I can find it on iTunes. Thanks for the help =p
