I just went to pick up a CD--British Lion by Steve Harris. Website said it was available at the Margate, Florida store. Drove there, and surprise, they didn't have it! No one there heard about it. This is only about the 5th time this has happened to me here. What's the point of offering a service like "Check In Store Availability" if it's consistently erroneous? It's better to lack information on the website than to have wrong information.

Ask them to check the stock in the back room and ask them to check ALL the boxes they have waiting, even the ones that are marked with a future release date. This has happened to me in the past, most notably when the Nightmare On Elm Street 2 & 3 blu ray was released. I went to three stores looking for the disc - all three of which had it in stock according to their own in store computer systems - and the first two gave up looking and sent me away empty handed. The third one, thankfully, had some employees who actually cared about the fact they couldn't find stock their system said they had. It turns out the discs were packed in a shipment marked with a release date for the following week so nobody there ever bothered to open that box since it was a week out from the marked street date. This was in Massachusetts. I told my brother in Michigan what had happened because he ran into the same problem. He reported back to me later that indeed, in Michigan as well, the exact same issue was the culprit.

I guess that's one way. I did find it at a different store. In the future, I'll call first and have an employee confirm that he or she sees it before heading down. I know it's just a $10 item so they probably focus more attention on the big-ticket stuff. But I think if you're going to stock an item and list it on the website, regardless of price, you should be on top of it.

Glad you found it. I would have liked to pick that one up myself but I have the same problem you do. The website says my local store in Pennsylvania has it in stock but I couldn't find a single copy of it there either, and I searched EVERYWHERE in their music department for it while I was waiting for a clerk to get back to me on another issue.
