Hello, I bought the recent Dredd blu-ray release from a store location. Blu-ray + Digital Copy + Ultraviolet (both standard and 3d versions on one disc) 3139816376. Anyways, I can not get my PS3 to "read" the disc.
Is this a common error with this title? Can anything be done to my PS3 to make it "read" this particular movie? I have all the recent downloaded updates and my other blu-ray movies work fine. Or should I just return the movie for another version.
Thanks.

Just bought a copy today 1/15/13 and I'm having the same problem. Not sure what's going on with it.

I have had the same problem twice now. Returned the first copy to Best Buy; store was out of Blu-ray as it was a common problem apparently, so they put money back on card. When to a different BB, got another copy, exact same problem.

Seems to be a problem with the disc. A quick web search returned a lot of results of people with the same issue. It's basically an incompatibility between the PS3 and the disc, so it'd be up to either Sony to release a firmware update, or Lionsgate to replace problem discs.
From what I've read, Best Buy should allow a return considering it is a defective item, but they have a policy to not accept opened media for return (which is understandable), so they may pull that card on you. Good luck.

True, but I'm not using a PS3. I'm using 2 different Blu-Ray Players, which pretty much confirms it is a Disc issue.

Hello everyone!
I would like to thank all of you for bringing this issue to our attention, and I apologize that you’re experiencing these problems with the playback of Dredd on Blu-ray. I have reached out to another team with your feedback, and we are currently working to try and figure out what may be causing this.
Thank you very much for your patience while we look into this, and I will post back with any updates as I get them.
Sincerely,

From reading other forums online, Sony players (including PS3 slim) and Oppo players are not working with the Dredd 3D disc. This is obviously not Best Buy's fault. Someone remarked the the older fat PS3 works with it but I can't confirm that. I bought it from Best Buy and it wouldn't play in my PS3 slim with the latest firmware update. I think some people that bought it from Amazon are having the same issue. I read in a forum that someone bought the same single-disc bluray/3d/ultraviolet movie at Wal-mart and it worked fine. I returned my disc to Best Buy this afternoon and decided to take a risk and buy the exact same Dredd 3D package at Wal-mart despite Geek Squad telling me that it is the same software and would be no different and it works fine on my PS3 slim. So probably Lionsgate screwed this up and maybe Wal-mart got a later pressing of the discs than Best Buy and Amazon, but this is really stupid that they're supposed to be the same thing. That worked for me but I can't guarantee it will work for everyone else.

Ok, an update...I took my Dredd BD (same BD that would not play on my PS3) to a friends house today. The movie loaded up and played fine on a Sony DVP-NS77H that has never had a firmware update.
The problem seems to be in the Sony firmware...and will be up to Sony to fix, in my opinion.
Thanks to everyone for the feedback and responses.

The problem is more widespread than just Sony players -- I;ve personally got a disc that won;t play on my Oppo, PC LG drive, A Panasonic and Sony standalone, plus a fat PS3. many people have reported problems with all brands of players on discs specifically from BBY. Several people have returned & rebought disc from Target and Amazon and played them on the same players.
There are scattered reports of bad discs from other retailers, but the majority seem to be BBY discs so likely a bad pressing run. If I remember many (not all) of the Hunger Games BBY Exclusive Boxset bluray did the same thing,
I'm going to exchange mine in store, but I;m opening the next one and playing it before I leave.

Any updates yet? I just took a chance and bought a copy on the 28th. It won't work on a Dynex, LG, or Panasonic player(all have up to date firmware). I would exchange it, but it was the last copy in the store. And if I return it, I lose the upgrade coupon I used on it. Plus it seems like Lionsgate put out a lot of bad discs and it should be on them to replace it.
