We’re a couple days passed all of the great releases from January 22nd and I hope everyone has had a chance to either browse BestBuy.com or visit their local store to check out all of the great deals. There is still some time left for this week’s sales, but as we head into the weekend I wanted to highlight what I’m looking forward to next week! Here is a little of what I’m excited about for on January 29th:
Music
ON AN ON will be releasing their debut album, Give In, and I couldn’t be more excited. I honestly don’t remember how I stumbled upon this band for the first time, but their songs “Ghosts” and “The Hunter” are great examples of each end of the spectrum of their sound.
Tegan and Sara will be releasing their seventh studio album with Heartthrob. I’ve been a fan of this Canadian sibling duo for quite some time, and I’m always excited to hear any new material that they have to offer. You can find their previous albums here.
Emmy Rossum will be releasing her second album, Sentimental Journey. This album is a collection of covers of classics from the 20s all the way to the 60s. This album is a bit of a departure from what I typically listen to, but I’m a bit eclectic and am excited to hear her versions of these songs. Aside from her singing career, she is also an actress and has appeared in the films Mystic River, The Day After Tomorrow, and also had a fantastic performance singing and acting in The Phantom of the Opera. She can currently be seen starring in the show Shameless.
Movies
My first call-out for movies being released on January 29th is really a music/movie combination since it’s a DVD release of a live performance. Them will be releasing a DVD of a live performance from 1965 called Mystic Eyes. You may not think you know who Them is, but you’ve probably heard their song “Gloria,” and this band is what really launched Van Morrison’s career.
Seven Psychopaths will also be released on the 29th, and it stars Colin Farrell, Christopher Walken, Woody Harrelson, and Sam Rockwell. This movie tells the story of a struggling writer that gets mixed up with a bunch of criminals after his friends kidnap a gangster’s dog. I haven’t seen this yet, but I’m sure it’ll be incredibly entertaining and funny. Tom Waits also has a role in this movie, which will only make it better. You can view the trailer here.
The last item that I want to highlight is an incredible box set of some of the best films that Warner Brothers has released. This 50 film collection contains classics such as Gone With the Wind, The Wizard of Oz, Citizen Kane, Casablanca, North by Northwest, Cool Hand Luke, Full Metal Jacket, The Matrix, Inception, and so much more. A set like this certainly isn’t for everyone, but if you’re looking for a great way to bulk up your Blu-ray collection with some classic titles, this is the way to go.
What is everybody else looking forward to? Did anyone pick up any other great new releases recently?
*Release dates are subject to change. Not all titles are carried or available in all stores

Somehow I overlooked an album that was released today that I’ve been looking forward to for quite some time, so I wanted to make sure I posted it.
Local Natives have now released their second album, Hummingbird. I first heard this band with their songs “Airplanes” and “Wide Eyes” off of their debut album, Gorilla Manor, and after hearing their new song, “Breakers,” I know this new album won’t disappoint.
