I see the 2D set on Best Buy for The Hobbit Trilogy Extended Edition, but I'm not seeing 3D Trilogy Extended Edition set. What's going on with this one??

Interesting. Does the 3D version come with all 3?

I have the 2D version on my wish list.

I looked at a few other stores and they do not seem to have one either.

Perhaps it didn't get bundeled considering the price of the 3D version and that 3D may be losing a lot of popularity for home video.

Amazon has it. It's exactly the same set but it just two extra 3D discs per movie so instead of a 9 disc set it's a 15 disc set. Apparently the release date is 11-23-15. Which is weird cuz releases are on Tuesdays.

I have noticed in the last year that a lot of products are not releasing on Tuesdays anymore.

I'm a huge fan of the first two movies, and while embarrassing to admit, I still haven't seen the final one of the trilogy! You'll have to let me know how it is.

Regrettably, you are correct in that we do not have the 3D Blu-ray trilogy set available for the extended editions. While I cannot guarantee you this would change in the future, I'd suggest keeping on an eye on BestBuy.com for any updates. Alternatively, you may buy them individually using this link, or you may purchase  the 15-disc Blu-ray extended set available here.

Your 15 disc set link actually goes to the Lord of the Rongs trilogy set which I have. But I'm glad to hear that at least you guys are aware of this availability issue. Please keep this thread posted if any news regarding a 3D Blu Ray set for The Hobbit Trilogy Extended Edition gets revealed!

On each and every one of the LOTR and Hobbit movies I have held out for the Extended Version.   I noticed the extra scenes more on the Fellowship as I had seen it in the Theater 3 times.  Yep LOTR geek.

The extended versions to me at least are very worth it.

I already have the other 2 in extended so I had not thought about the boxed set.  Which would be great.

I think I was just really excited that I found a 15-disc set you mentioned that I didn't even notice it was a Lord of the Rings set. While one of my favorite trilogies, it really wasn't something you were looking for. I'm sorry for not noticing that.  

Having said that, I'll be sure to keep an eye out for an extended Hobbit 3D collection. I'm a bit of a geek myself, and I want to buy one too if we ever have it available!

Man, still no USA release announced or any news on the Extended Edition Hobbit Trilogy in 3D! Might as well start looking forward to a 4K HDR Trilogy Extended boxed set...

I'm glad I'm not going crazy (and randomly saw your post dated today). I research this topic every 3-4 months, waiting for the uber set of LOTR and The Hobbit set, and thought I had potentially missed out on the Hobbit 3D extended one. Glad to see I'm not crazy, but that it in fact has never been for sale in the US. 

I'm with you though. I'm all for it in 4K as long as they bring Atmos. Now I just need a 4K projector...
