'Tis the season for great Holiday music. My favorite Christmas songs are perennials from my childhood. There aren't a lot of new compositions that strike me as timeless. If I hear a new classic, I'll let you know!
Last weekend I picked up Kristin Chenoweth's A Lovely Way To Spend Christmas. On it, she performs my new favorite version of "Do You Hear What I Hear?" which is one of my five most adored Christmas songs of all time. Josh Groban still does my favorite version of "O Holy Night" (although the song is so amazing that I'm never disappointed, no matter who sings it!) and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts nailed "Little Drummer Boy" like no other -- and that was in 1981. Rounding out my top five is "Christmas Wrapping" by the Waitresses (which makes me grin like a fool every time I hear it) and "I Saw Three Ships" by David Arkenstone.
I love song lists. My problem is that too often they turn into shopping lists.

I love the classic Christmas songs. For some unknown reason Burl Ives’ Have a Holiday Jolly Christmas always fills me
with the holiday spirit. My other
favorites are Sleigh Ride and I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas – not sure
what I would do with one
