I have a question regarding "Handwritten," the new Gaslight Anthem album that comes out the 24th of this month. I've been looking around for the deluxe edition (Best Buy's SKU for it is 5970352 for reference) and deciding on where to buy it. I consulted a friend who works at Best Buy and he informed me his store wouldn't be carrying it. Honestly, this is pretty common at this location-- it's a smaller store so the selection is sometimes awful and I usually have to go elsewhere for some of my more obscure music. That said, he told me even the larger local stores won't be carrying it and he tried to order it for me, but to no avail.

So here's my question: short of paying an extra ten dollars shipping, is there any way at all I can get this product on or even near release date? I've been trying for a while, checking local music stores and retail locations, and so far no one can provide this. Anyone have any experiences like this and could provide any input?

And since I feel the need to gripe, this band just played Letterman, complete with a livestreaming online concert, and I've heard their music played in popular chain stores in the mall. They're not exactly an unknown band. What's up with stores not getting this album?

This isn't a 100% answer, but just want to throw some alternatives. If you want to avoid shipping, you can try pre-ordering the album online and choose instore pick up. I've never done this with a cd so not sure if you have that option. I'm sure if you do it early enough it gives the store enough time to send out a copy to the location you visit so you can pick it up on release.

Also with my experience with buying music cds, stores usually don't know what they are getting till days before release compared to movies where they kinda get a more of an advance. There's still a chance that Best Buy will carry. They are a big well known band so I do see stores carrying it. Though not sure how many deluxe copies would be available. I say best options if you want it from Best Buy is to order online and see if there is a Instore Pickup option or start calling stores on Monday on release week to see if they receive or planning to receive the cd.

Thanks, Bumcats! In-store pickup has never been an option on this album, at least not so far. And the "friend" who works at Best Buy, as previously mentioned, is actually my fiance, but even he's not 100% sure how I can get this CD in a timely manner. I'll accept the regular shipping, it's just kind of terrible that I can't pre-order CDs in advance and get it on release day.

I'm sure he'll keep me posted if anything changes, but for now we were out of ideas.
