We appreciate the discussion around our steelbooks. In most cases, these steelbooks end up being in high demand, but by their nature, are limited in quantity.
When possible, we'll allow these to be picked up in stores, but generally, if you don't have a pre-order, you're going to miss out. It's extremely rare for there to be any extra copies of most of these steelbooks. As far as shipping them goes, we expect the carrier to treat every package with care.
We make every effort to allow everyone the opportunity to pre-order, and we do everything we can to keep people from obtaining mulitple copies to resell.
Thanks for posting.

"We make every effort to allow everyone the opportunity to pre-order, and we do everything we can to keep people from obtaining mulitple copies to resell."
What does BestBuy specifically do to prevent people from obtaining multiple copies to resell? I've been in a BestBuy store the morning of a steelbook release - I saw another customer take 5 copies and check out with them. Similar scenario - when Target used to do steelbooks, such as Ironman 2, I saw a customer try and buy three and their employees stopped the person and onlt let them purchase one. So with pre-ordering / online purchasing being the primary method of obtaining BestBuy exclusive steelbooks, what do you do as a company do to prevent multiple purchases and scalping of your product?

We wouldn't be able to provide specific details as to processes or policies, as that defeats the purpose of keeping people from finding ways around them.
Stores should be limiting quantities of purchases as well for these items, as a general rule, and we give managers the leeway to make these decisions.

I preordered a Godzilla vs Kong steelbook back in mid May with an expected release on June 15th. When the day it was to be released, they updated with an email saying it was delayed and would send it as soon as they could. It's been nearly a month since then and still no update. I contacted CS through chat and the best the person could give me was "we'll send it when the manufacterer makes more". Especially on such a limited item, why did they allow more pre-orders than they knew they would have or people to order multiple of them? And in order to find one in store, I have to go more than 300 miles away. This is such a major issue with them, especially since scalpers can purchase multiple steelbooks then sell them for double or even triple the price on ebay or amazon. I mainly only shop with them for steelbooks, so if they can't even do that, then I will likely stop shopping from Best Buy altogether. I ordered Mortal Kombat for steelbook as well, and already it's telling me to expect it two weeks after release. I never had issues before, but now two in a row is making me question if it's even worth it.

Well you are somehow able to access this forum and send messages. That would imply you have the ability to order online.
