While I know for some that 3D is falling by the wayside; I'm still a major fan of the format and always snatch up the newest 3D disc. And remarkably I think people in my area like 3D too, been a few times where the 3D discs have sold out halfway through the day; and numerous regular Blu-Rays still sti on the shelf.
I was excited to see online that 'Underworld Blood Wars' was being offered in a 3D/4K set and it seemed to be a Best Buy exclusive. So I put in an order for store pickup and went by this morning to pick it up. Obviously, I didn't go home with said Blu-Ray; I figured something must've gone on at the higher level when I checked my receipt, the link opens straight to the 4K disc page and 3D is no longer mentioned.
So, I'm now seeing that 'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter' has the same 3D/4K combo pack offering that 'Underworld' had.
I'm just curious if 'Resident Evil' will actually be made available at Best Buy in 3D or (like Underworld) it's a mistake and it will not be offered?

Hello GoldenSimatar,
I never saw the first Resident Evil film, but I did see the second one and I'm not convinced that was the best place to check in to the series. I'm discouraged to read of the ambiguity you encountered with this titled and I regret any inconvenience to you.
I have contacted my corporate partners regarding your query. As soon as I have new information, I will reply again to your message. Your patience in the interim is most appreciated.

Thanks for letting me know. Like 'Underworld' I'll be ordering the 3D version from the UK.

I've actually purchased them from the UK; both the Underworld: Blood Wars & Resident Evil: The Final Chapter 3D Blu-rays are ABC coded. A fun surprise was that the RE6 disc from HMV actually came with a bonus disc with another 30min+ of special features.
I invested long ago in a code free 3D blu-ray player; highly recommend it. Downside is obviously waiting sometimes an extra month or two for a film's release and then another week or two for it to arrive. But, the upside is films that might never get a blu-ray release in the states or not get a 3D release here are now open.
As of late, I've judged the possibility of a 3D released based upon a film's success at the box office: if it's a hit, there's a good chance of a 3D release and if it doesn't do well, at least domestically no 3D.

Hello GoldenSimatar
Thanks for the info, i forgot to check the UK. As for players i have an older LG 3D, a newer Sony 4k 3D (got it about 10 months ago, and a Samsung 4k 3D that i think i will return. I know the LG is region free, and i am pretty sure that the Sony is to but i have had issue with 3 or so movies from other places, mostly Need For Speed 3D from Amazon Italiano which for some reason would not play on anything, i even tried Cyberpower Player on my main PC and one other title that i got from Ireland which had the same region number as disks i got from UK that played but the circle the number was in was a different color and that movie wouldn't play on anything either, otherwise i have purchased movies from UK, Germany, Japan, Russia, and several other market to keep my collection going.
Thanks again for the UK tip, i will check it out as i did not want to purchase the one from Sir Lanka as it appeared to be a fairly good fake but a fake non the less and i don't support piracy, i figure if i like a show or movie or series then i will buy the media and content to keep that series going and if its something i don't like then i just wont buy the next season, or the next sequel.
Have a great Friday
