How long will Best Buy hold a preorder?

I preordered God of War, just wondering how long they will hold a copy? Also will I get an email when it is ready to be picked up?

Re: How long will Best Buy hold a preorder?

Hello CenturionElite,

Thanks for joining our forum, and thank you too for pre-ordering your games at Best Buy! God of War looks great, and I’m excited to play it too. I can definitely answer your question today.

Best Buy will hold a pre-order for 5 days after the game’s release, whether it was pre-ordered through BestBuy.com or at the local store directly. Beyond that time frame, though, there are some differences between the two.

In-store: If you pre-ordered in-store you will have paid a deposit of at least $5 toward the cost of the game when it is released. There will not be any notification or reminder that the game is released, but you can expect to find your copy of the game held for you at the customer service counter for up to 5 days. If you do not return to the store within that time you will likely still be able to find a copy of the game in the games section of the store, but you will no longer be eligible for any pre-order bonus. Conversely, if you do not wish to fulfill your preorder, or if you pre-ordered a Collector’s Edition that is no longer available, you will need to return to the store to receive a refund of the deposit paid.

Online: If you pre-ordered online you will receive an email when your order has been set for pickup at your local store. This may come up to a day before the release, however, as we may prepare your order before closing Monday night, for example, ahead of a Tuesday release. When the order is prepared for fulfillment, your credit card is charged. If you do not pick it up within 5 days, the product is returned to the sales floor, and your credit card is refunded.

For more information I would encourage you to visit our Store Pickup page on BestBuy.com here.

I hope this answers all your questions, but please let me know if I can be of additional assistance today.

Game on,

Re: How long will Best Buy hold a preorder?

Hi CenturionElite,

Online pre-orders are a little different as far as processing goes. From what I put above:

Online: If you pre-ordered online you will receive an email when your order has been set for pickup at your local store. This may come up to a day before the release, however, as we may prepare your order before closing Monday night, for example, ahead of a Tuesday release. When the order is prepared for fulfillment, your credit card is charged. If you do not pick it up within 5 days, the product is returned to the sales floor, and your credit card is refunded.

As far as the experience goes on the day you pick up yoru product, please find some helpful information below.

Bring to the store:

  1. Your government-issued photo ID
  2. The credit card used for the purchase (if a credit card was used).
  3. Your order number.

At the store:

  • Some stores have reserved parking spaces for Store Pickup. They're right up front.
  • Inside, look for the Store Pickup sign. Or ask the associate at the door to point you in the right direction.

Thanks and enjoy your gaming experience!
