Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is the latest title in long running Metal Gear franchise. Taking place in 1984, this chapter centers on Snake (aka Big Boss) in the middle of a global crisis during the cold war. Players take control as Snake is guided through a stealthy, action packed epic that is likely to earn the praise of fans and newcomers alike.

My first introduction to the Metal Gear universe happened when I was in kindergarten. I borrowed a game from my next door neighbor thinking it was something else. While I didn’t exactly know what I was doing, I knew that this game was really cool. It was not until high school that I returned to the franchise with Metal Gear Solid- a game that consumed weeks of my time. One thing that I will say about these games is that they challenged the very nature of the art form that is video games. By having the player do things like changing which port the controller is plugged into to beat a boss, or manipulating the screen in order to mess with the player themselves- this game brakes the fourth wall and makes you feel as if you are part of the universe it occupies.
