Addicted to your NOOK but don't like paying for NOOK books?  Did you know that you can save yourself a bundle by borrowing ebooks? Here are four ways to expand your reading list on a budget.

1. LendMe NOOK Feature
Proud owners of either a NOOK Color or NOOK Tablet can take advantage of the LendMe feature on their device to score free ebooks from reading buddies. The LendMe feature allows users to share eligible ebooks with contacts within their NOOK Friends network.  Not all ebooks are lendable. An eligible ebook will have an icon denoting that it is lendable. You can loan an ebook out for 14 days to one user, one time only.

2. Nook Lending Communities on Facebook
“Like” these Facebook pages to connect with a robust community to trade free NOOK books using the LendMe feature:

3. The Library
You can check out a NOOK book from the public library just like you would a regular book. Visit OverDrive Search, to see if your library belongs to the OverDrive network.  Then visit the ebook download page on your library’s OverDrive website. Log in using your library card barcode number and PIN.  Browse and select e-books in the EPUB format, which is format NOOK supports. Then connect your NOOK to the computer via a USB cable. You will require Adobe Digital Editions on your computer to transfer the e-book to your NOOK. Download and open the e-book on your computer using Adobe Digital Editions and drag the e-book title on to your NOOK.

4. Nook Book Lending Websites
EbookFling streamlines the process of swapping free Nook books with a community of avid readers. The website lets you list lendable ebooks as well as send requests to borrow titles you want to read. You are awarded credits for lending out Nook books to others, and you can use earned credit to borrow ebooks. NOOK books can be borrowed for up to 14 days, after which the ebooks  are automatically returned to the owner.

You can also tap into a social network of Nook bookworms at BooksforNooks.com and BookFriend.me. Both websites connect members who want to lend and borrow Nook books for free. Membership is free for both websites.
