Setup

 

How to Enable Insignia Skill in Alexa?

 

Go to Alexa App

- Go to the menu, and select Skillsto navigate to Skill Section Or, go to the Alexa Skills store on the Amazon website: https://www.amazon.com/skills.

- Search for “Insignia Connect” skill

- Tap on the listed skill & click on Enable

- Login with your BestBuy Login ID & Password. Note: This Login should be same as the one you used in Insignia Connect App to setup the device

- Once the login is complete, your skill will be linked

- Then Click on Discover Devices button

- Now you can control your Insignia Devices with Alexa

How to Disable & Re-Enable Insignia Skill in Alexa?

 

Open Alexa App

- Go to the menu, and select Skills to navigate to Skill Section

- Click on “Your Skills” at the Top right corner of the screen

- Tap the “Insignia Connect” Skill

- Then click on Disable Skill button

- Alexa usually doesn’t delete the already added devices even after disabling the skill. Please remove them manually before re-enabling the skill. Please follow Troubleshooting Step 8 below.

How to enable Insignia Skill in Google Home?

 

Open Google Home App

- Press Menu

- Click on Home Control. In the "Devices" tab, at the bottom right tap Add button

- Click on “Insignia Connect” from list of skills

- Login with your BestBuy Login ID & Password. Note: This Login should be same as the one you used in Insignia Connect App to setup device

- Once the login is complete, your skill will be linked

Troubleshooting Steps

 

Step 1 - Power connection Check

Please check if the power supply to the plugs is live.

 

Step 2 - Wi-Fi connection Check

Please check the Wi-Fi router and connection if its active. If active, proceed to step 3

 

Step 3 - Plug/Switch Hard Reset Check

Please check if the device emits Wi-Fi signal which can be identified in the phone’s Wi-Fi search window from list of available Wi-Fi devices and proceed to Step 4. If not proceed to step 5

 

Step 4 - Re-configure plug/switch

Please re-setup the plug/switch again with the Insignia Connect App. Once setup is done run discover devices with voice command “Alexa discover devices”

 

Step 5 - Account verification

Please verify if the account used in Insignia Connect App is the same provided in the Alexa insignia connect skill

 

Step 6 - Disable Skill

Please disable the insignia connect skill by navigating Skill->Your skills-> Insignia connect->Disable Skill

 

Step 7 - Enable Skill

Please enable skill the insignia connect skill by navigating Skill-> insignia connect-> Enable and providing the same login account details used in the Insignia Connect App.

 

Step 8 - Removing Obsolete Old device after reset and name change (Alexa Only)

Alexa App after a device name change or after device hard reset, keeps the device name in all devices section. Sometimes Customers may see two entries for a device, one with the old name and one with new name. To Solve this,

- Navigate to Smart Home Section in Alexa app

- Tap on the obsolete device with the older name

- Tap on the ‘Edit’ displayed in Top-Right section.

- Tap on the ‘Delete’ icon displayed in the Top-Right section.

- Tap on the ‘Delete’ option in the pop-up confirmation message. 

 

 Encountering 502 Errors When Signing-In and Activating Alexa?

-You may need to disable then re-enable. Please see attached for the steps to resolve 502 Errors.
