Insignia Connect App Crashing - Global Issue confirmed

I contacted support by phone twice this week as the Insignia Connect App crashes on start up, every time.  I don't know why this isn't posted anywhere on this forum, but they told me that this is a "global issue" that they are aware of and are working on a fix or update and that I would recieve notice via email.  I am sceptical.  For now, none of my smart switches can be accessed as the app is the only way to access them.

 

I have done all of the uninstall, restart, clearing the cache, multiple times, with no improvement, even a fresh install crashes immediately on startup.

We’re sorry to hear that your Insignia Connect App is not working! I understand how that could certainly be frustrating. Are you still experiencing an issue on your end? Calling our Insignia Support team at (877) 467-4289 would be best so they can ensure your issue is documented. Upon calling them did you get a case number or something similar? We look forward to your reply to learn more about your experience.

My post reads "I contacted support by phone twice this week" in the opening sentance.  So yes, I contacted support, twice.  It then reads "they told me that this is a "global issue" that they are aware of and are working on a fix or update and that I would recieve notice via email." so yes, it seems they led me to believe this issue was more than documented, but that people were actually working to resolve it.  I would like some help, yes.  Replying to your message, and the response so far has not been helpful, no.

Since you have been in touch with Insignia directly, I would recommend and encourage you to continuing to work with them. Our forum team is not privy to information beyond what Insignia Support knows or is able to provide.

Was just in contact again, spent another half hour on the phone.  Tried downloading it on a different android phone, a different google account, and the app crashed instantly on a fresh install.  This app must be incompatible with versions of android and possibly different smart phones, this needs to be figured out, it shouldn't be available for download in the google play store if the android version or type of smart phone are incompatible.

So I finally got the app to work on an old device, an android RCA tablet from Walmart I bought years ago.  It woudn't work on any of our android phones, just crashed instantly.  Phone support personel either confirmed this as a global issue, said they were getting lots of calls about it but weren't allowed to confirm it was an issue, or claimed there was no issue with the app at all.

  Hours spent on the phone with tech support could have been saved by them simply admitting the app is terribly coded, is incompatable with most android devices, and one should just keep trying every android device they can find until one works.
