I just purchased INSIGNIA WiFi Smart Plug and am trying to install it. It guides me through the steps of detecting and finds the switch. I make it through the process to "Setting Up Device." This process has failed each time.I've purchased 2 plugs, none of them are working. It says Registration Call Failed. How to get this issue resolved?

Thank you for reaching out to us, and for joining our forum community. It’s disappointing to hear that you’re having some issues connecting your Smart Plugs, and you’re getting a Registration Call Failed error. I’d be happy to provide you some troubleshooting tips.
Can you please confirm which model of our Smart Plug you purchased? I’d be happy to recommend the proper power cycling steps for you in addition to the troubleshooting I’ve already noted below.
1-Log out of the Best Buy account on the customer's phone and log back in. If the customer has their account associated on other phones, make sure all accounts on all phones are logged out.
2- Uninstall and Re-install the Insignia CONNECT application.
3- Make sure that the router is configured at a 2.4 GHz band or has the capability of dual bandwidth.
4- Ensure that you’re very close to the switch as possible.
5- Ensure there is a strong Wi-Fi signal where the switch is being setup.
6- Make sure your router security setting is set on WPA-PSK or WPA2-PSK; changing the password sometimes works to get the switch installed.
7- As a last resort resetting your router may help.

I am having the same issues. I have 2 NS-SP1X7 Smart Plugs. They were working fine until yesterday when we change internet providers. I was trying to reconnect and am going through a lot of trouble. The hot spot is not redirected and I am unable to connect these again. It feels like an app issue. I've found several other posts with very similar issues. What is Insigna doing to resolve this and how soon can we expect to see the update to the app?

I am on iOS 11.3, but the app is on version 3.1.15 and I still have the issues. I've reported this to your solution center and they have all my information i.e. phone, app, what's happening.

By chance, are you getting an error that states "Error Opening Page - Hotspot login cannot open the page because it cannot redirect to locations starting with "bbyinsignia-iot:"? If you are you can learn more that error here, and review the troubleshooting steps listed. We have received a few reports that the troubleshooting steps that Emir-INSG did share aren’t working. Please let us know if you encountered the same issue, and I’d be happy to ensure that’s communicated to the correct team.

I am having the same problem as user: rpollard is having. Iworkingorkign fine and then broke with iOS 11.3. I am on 11.4 Beta and it is also broken. I can log into the app but none of my 3 Wifi Smart Plugs show up. The still respond to Alex and are on the schedule I set up but I cannot manually turn lights on or off via the app since the app shows no devices. What is the fix here?

Hey Insignia! Looks like alot more "Registration Failed" issues since mid-April. My NS-CH1XIS8's also. Using Android tablet with 7.0.1 OS. I had one working from December, but deleted to make some changes on 4/21/2018 plus install a new one. Cannot register either one - but my router shows them both connected to my Belkin Dual-Band router.
