Just bought Samsung smart TV model UN32J5500AFXza and Insignia soundbar model NS-SB216. Have optical cable running from sound bar to tv and have soundbar set for optical and tv speaker set for optical, but no sound.....what's wrong??? Have tried unplugging from power waiting 30 seconds to plug back in...still no sound.

Hello Box,
Thank you for sharing that you’re having some trouble getting your Samsung 32” TV connected to your soundbar. I understand that can certainly be frustrating. I’d be happy to offer a couple of suggestions.
Can you please try to turn off the sound of your TV completely? Doing so shouldn’t affect your TV’s ability to feed that information back and forth via that digital optical audio cord. Have you double check that you cord you’re using isn’t damaged? The tips of a digital optical audio cord are very fragile, and most times even have special caps/tips that need to be removed prior to plugging it in. Please let us know if you need further help on this matter.
Respectfully,
Mariah

The TV internal speakers turn off when I choose the soundbar source and it is a brand new optical cord.

Hi Box,
You’d want to ensure that internal speakers are turned off. Have you tried to connect via a different connection? The soundbar did come with an RCA option and a 3.5 to RCA adapter. I can see that your TV does have an option to connect via the RCA option.
