NS-WBRDVD subtitle support to portuguese

Even having Portuguese between the choices of autorun languages of subtitle in the languagues menu, the NS-WBRDVD doesn't interprets the diacritics of the words ("á", "ã", "é")

I wanna know if there is any estimate when will be available an update to support properly the Portuguese subtitle.

tks

Re: NS-WBRDVD subtitle support to portuguese

Hello rccrj,

Welcome to Community@Insignia™!

Is this a DVD or Blu-ray disk and what is the title?  Did you select the subtitle language option through the disk menu or the player menu?  It's my understanding that subtitles are encoded on the disk and only displayed by our player, so any spelling errors should be inherent to the disk itself.  However, if you'll reply with answers to my questions, we'll look into it further.

Regards,
John

Re: NS-WBRDVD subtitle support to portuguese

The source was a srt file selected when playing an mkv movie.

I selected the subtitle trough the remote control.

I had and tried english and portuguese subtitles, both loaded ok but in the portuguese the letter with accents came as a square symbol like this "□".

Tks.

I think that would be of great help for any Latin language that has accents.

Re: NS-WBRDVD subtitle support to portuguese

Rccrj Hello, Would you please comment on how it is that the video did it catch you subtitles. And tried to add in the same folder as the video the subtitle with the same name (different extension) and add the mkv file and I do not let them choose in any way.

Re: NS-WBRDVD subtitle support to portuguese

I know this is an old thread, maybe someone can help. How do you get the srt files to load? was it off a thumb drive, burned to dvd...I just can't get it to work in any way.

Thanks

Re: NS-WBRDVD subtitle support to portuguese

Hi.

I just place the two files with the same beging of the file name and choose by the subtitle button.

I already did it with two subs with diferent end names (one eng other pt-br) and it worked ok.

If you wanna send me the links of those files that do not load, i can try here.

Rafael

Re: NS-WBRDVD subtitle support to portuguese

Hi Rafael, thank you for that fast reply!

Unfortunately I don't have any links to the files I'm using. I'm using Mp4 files with the srt, both have identical names, off of an 8gb flash drive, and when I hit the subtitle button on the remote after I start the movie, the srt does not show up to turn it on. I actually can't even see the srt file when I browse the folder on the flash drive where the Mp4 is...it's very strange, and completely frustrating. I can't understand why it would work for one machine and not another. What firmware are you running on your insignia? Thank you again for your help.
