2 questions - any help greatly appreciated.

1) Connected via Btooth successfully, streams music fine. Trying to broadcast phone call over speaker with no luck. Not trying to dial or use Google to control, just get the speaker / microphone to work like many other, cheaper devices. Have tried multiple phones. 

Can't promise firmware was upgraded when i connected. Cant easily find how to verify my version is latest. Home shows latest version as 306.

Thank you for visiting us here on the forum. Based on what I understand about this speaker and our FAQ guide (referenced below), I believe this speaker will only play audio from your phone and does not support phone calls.

Question 23: Can this speaker make phone calls?

Google has not made phone calls available at this time. We hope to add this feature in the near future.

To answer your second question, Google has not yet shared with us if or when another firmware update may be released. That said, you can still check the firmware of your Insignia smart speaker by following these steps:

• Open the Google Home app.
• In the top right corner of app's home screen, tap Devices.
• Scroll to find the device card for the item you'd like to check the firmware version for.
• In the top right corner of the device card, tap the More button (⋯), and then Settings.
• If there is an update available, it should appear there. Your current system firmware version should be listed at the bottom as well.
