Re: Force a firmware check? (Insignia Smart Speaker NS-CSPGASP) and Speaker Pair

The unit that formerly had firmware 105... what firmware version does it have now?  I bought quite a few to give as gifts and they are all 105.  So unless there's any hope of  their receiving a proper update, I will return them.

Insignia smart speaker not updating firmware (still on n.101) and not answering

When I say OK Google, it always answers there is a glitch.

I can cast to the speaker, and from the Google Home app I can control it.

My other insignia speaker in the same LAN work well.

Re: Force a firmware check? (Insignia Smart Speaker NS-CSPGASP) and Speaker Pair

It seems like any units with 101 or 105 are "bricked" on that version and unless they update during the initial update they will never be updated due to some technical issue nobody seems to be able to resolve. Once they update to a later version, they seem to not have any issue updating to future versions (Most of mine seemed to update to 310 immeditately and then 314 at a later date). I recommend returning all the ones that fail to update immediately like I did and try another unit. There's some major software flaws on these things!

Re: Force a firmware check? (Insignia Smart Speaker NS-CSPGASP) and Speaker Pair

I bought 2 last month.  I have no idea what firmware they came with as they almost immediately updated upon first setting them up.  Those 2 are now on firmware 314.

I bought 4 more, also intended to be gifts, from a different local Best Buy store this past week.  In fear that they would not setup correctly, I opened them all up.  And sure enough, they didn't setup like the first two.  They are stuck on firmware 105.  So I'm waiting things out per previous posts to see if they will update within the next week.  If so, I'll post an update.

"eguy", so you think it's possible that I might be able to buy some other units, from a different store, and those units might come with a different/newer firmware (newer than 105) that will then update to 314?

Hi, same problem here, my firmware is on 101.
Apparently some people are able to upgrade. So there must be a way

Hello all,

Thank you for the conversation surrounding the firmware issue.

We received confirmation from our engineers that the firmware should be forced within the next 24 hours or so.

Please be sure to let us know how the update goes and if you have further questions or concerns on Friday (allowing a reasonable time for all updates to complete).

Your input and patience have been and continue to be appreciated.

Re: Force a firmware check? (Insignia Smart Speaker NS-CSPGASP) and Speaker Pair

Mine seems to be stuck with the Load flashing now. It's been going for quite a while. I will let it continue and see if it ever stops. However, in the Google Home app it now says 314 so that's a positive sign. Previous version was 101.
