DNS connection problem with NS-BRDVD4-CA

My new blu-ray player is having issues.  It will not stay connected to the internet.  I am wondering why this is because we do not have any problems with our PS3 or our MacBook.  Please advise with a solution for this.

I look forward to your reply,

Jessica

Re: DNS connection problem with NS-BRDVD4-CA

Hello Jessica,

Welcome to Community@Insignia™!

More information would be helpful:

  • You said that your player will not stay connected. How long does it stay connected?  Do you have any issues connecting after the connection is dropped?
  • What message is displayed by the player?
  • Is your player connected directly to the router by ethernet cable or are you attempting to connect to your home network by another means?
Any additional information you can provide (more is better) will help us assist you.

Regards,
John

Re: DNS connection problem with NS-BRDVD4-CA

Just recently my play has been experiencing the same problems.   I can connect wirelessly to the internet no problem but when I test my connection the dialog box Network Test appears  and says the following:

Obtaining IP Address... successfully established.

Conection to 0.0.0.0... successfully esrtablished.

Resolving DNS... could not be established.

Please check your connection and try again.

Any ideas.  I checked my lan connections to both my router and the player.  I reset the router by unplugging and plugging it back in.   A few minutes after restart it seems to pick up the LAN connection  as an icon appears in the upper right of the screen.      Any and all ideas are welcome.    Thanks

Re: DNS connection problem with NS-BRDVD4-CA

Yes the player will stay connected sometimes for as long as 5 hours or so however most of the time it can not find connection.  It says that there is a DNS Error.

We do have it hooked up throuhg a hub however we also have a PS3 and it is hooked up through the same hub and have no problems with it's DNS Connection.

If you need anymore information please let me know.

I should also mention that I have instlled the older version of the firmware because I thought that the firmware might be the problem.  I am still having the same issues.

DNS Connection Problem with NS-BRDVD4-CA

I am now getting a DNS error whenever i try to connect to the internet via this player.   I have a ethernet cable connecting the router to the player.  After a few minutes (seems like a longer time then necessary) but thats another problem, it establishes the LAN connection but whenver I perform a network test it says connection failed.  DNS error.  I have noticed other people on this borad posting about the same problem.   Do you know what could be causing this?  It just started to happen recently.  I have a wireless router and have no problem connecting to the internet with any other devices I have so I know its not my internet connection.

I unplugged my machine.  waited 30 minutes and plugged everything back in and now its working fine.   Give that a try.

Re: DNS connection problem with NS-BRDVD4-CA

Hello Jessica,

I would suggest doing the following to resolve your DNS issues:

  • On the main menu of the NS-BRDVD4 select settings, system, restore factory defaults, then select restore factory settings and press okay.
  • After resetting the player then unplug the power from the player as well as your router. Leave the devices unplugged for 30 seconds and plug them back in.

If you are still experiencing issues with DNS after attempting these steps then please contact us at 1-877-467-4289.
