I would like to know this as well. I read the cnet review found here: http://reviews.cnet.com/Insignia_NS_2BRDVD/4505-6463_7-33396682.html?part=rss&subj=fdba&tag=MR_Video...
They said "The NS-2BRDVD is Blu-ray Profile 1.1 compatible, but, unlike most recent Blu-ray players, it lacks Profile 2.0 compatibility. That means you won't be able to access Internet-enabled BD-Live features available on some Blu-ray movies. We haven't been impressed with BD-Live features so far, but there have been some promising early attempts, such as director Christopher Nolan's live chat on The Dark Knight. Insignia is promising a firmware update to make the NS-2BRDVD Profile 2.0-compatible in March 2009."
So again where is this Profile 2.0 update? Matthew-INSG do you have any information about this?

I used the link, burned the disk and it seemed to work like the instructions said. Only problem is that I don't have a disk that previously did not work to test it on. We'll see over time if I keep having the same type of problems.
Try to reburn the disk

Ok ... I did the update. To summarize my situation we picked up "The Day the Earth Stood Still" from Blockbuster yesterday only to have it not play. My wife assumed the disc was scratched but I suspected otherwise. Being relatively savy about hardware I did a quick scan of the Internet and discovered other people were having issues around playing some newer blue rays.
Well here is what happened. No change it still won't play. It simply goes back to the menu. This is bordering on ridiculous (given what I've read). This is obviously a lower tier product. Is there any hope or should I relegate this to the living room and pickup something that is updated more frequently and has more support??

That is the funniest thing that I have heard all day! That truly did make me laugh. The 2BDDVD is the spinoff clone of the Samsung 1500! Users from Samsung are still waiting as well!

Actually you can go to Samsung.com to get the Profile 2.0 firmware for the 1500.
I also emailed Insignia inquiring about the Profile 2.0 firmware for the NS-2BRDVD, but I haven't received a response yet.

You may never. They have already admitted that the NS-BRDVD will never get any firmware updates. Unlike the Magnasonic, Sylvania, and the Funai Branded players.
I'm surprised that Samsung has released the 2.0 upgrade. they usually abondon their products, after the 2nd quarter. I will never buy them either... Do you remember the 25" TV/VCR combo's in Wolworth, or Target? LOL

If that turns out to be the case, then I'll return mine (thanks to the extended warranty) and get a samsung, since the unit will be considered defective. They can't live up to the promise is on the box, Profile 2.0 with future update.
Way to win customers Insignia! Good Job! I think it's safe to say that I'll never buy another Insignia product again, and I'm going to make sure all my friends and family know about that too.

Hello theoden144,
I consulted our technical team and have been advised that the Profile 2.0 update is on the way. Unfortunately, they were unable to provide a timeframe for availability. Please check back with us from time to time; as soon as it's available we'll have the details.
Thanks for bringing your concern to the forum!
Regards,
John
