Purchased Insignia chest freezer 7 cu feet today. after plugging in and waiting I was unable to open lid. Is there some type of lock keeping the lid from opening???

Hello, rlallak,
Welcome to our community. Thanks for your question.
There should not be any locking mechanism, but there may be tape holding the lid shut. Be sure to check all side of the lid for that tape.
Let me know if you have any questions.

after doing some backyard investigation :-) It appears that when you close the lid you get a strong seal. I found a soft close to work better that a hard close. I also was able to work a finger into the seal and that allowed me to open the lid. Overall the lid has a very tight seal.

Hi, rlallak,
Thanks for checking back in. I'm glad you were able to get it open.
A stronger seal can be a pain to open, but I'm sure it is more energy efficient.
Please let me know if I can help with anything else.
Sincerely,
