Holiday return policy complaint

I bought a new Samsung Galaxy S8 from store #596 on December 15, 2018 in East Brunswick, NJ, and I double-checked with the staff member about the return policy.  The staff lady told me that since I was buying the cell phone during the holiday season, it can be returned until January 12, 2019 under the holiday return policy.  I also looked at the receipt and the receipt didn't mention that the holiday return policy excludes cell phones.  So in January 5, 2019, I brought the phone untouched to the Best Buy store in Brooklyn, NY, and they refused to let me return as I passed the 14-day return window.  I am really frustrated that I was misinformed by the poorly trained staff member in store #596 about the return policy and now I am holding a brand new untouched cell phone that I couldn't return just because cell phone was excluded from the holiday return policy which I was not aware of.  This was supposed to be a gift but it turned out not necessary so that's why I am returning it.  I heard that a lot of people is suffering because of this not-clear holiday return policy.  Please kindly help me resolve this issue.

Re: Holiday return policy complaint

Hello there muhahagongon-

Thank you for choosing to make Best Buy your shopping destination for your Samsung Galaxy S8, but after the gift was no longer needed, I could understand why you're looking to return the device.  I want to apologize for not having the response you were hoping for and also for any information that was not accurate about our Return and Exchange Promise

That said, our policy does state that "Cell Phones, and Devices That Can Be Activated", have a 14 day return period, and restocking fees may apply in certain states.  Please let us know if you have any other questions we can assist you with and it would be my pleasure to see how I could help!

The receipt is too big for all of the terms to be listed, so it perhaps lists a website you can go to for the full terms and conditions. In any case all terms apply for returning cell phones as it is an item that can be activated. No exceptions to the rules.
