GPS Heart Rate Monitors

If you’re in the market for a new heart rate monitor then there’s something important you should consider: whether or not you want a model that includes GPS functionality.  While this feature is by no means necessarily to get the most out of your workout, GPS functionality gives you the ability to measure the distance you travel and your overall pace – both things that cannot easily be done with single-function heart rate monitors.  Many GPS-enabled models are also watches, allowing the device to automatically adjust time zone settings whenever and wherever you travel.

Re: GPS Heart Rate Monitors

I was at the Torrance store and no one on staff seems to know anything about these watches, or can discuss the benfits of one over another. Also, the website is very unclear. My main question that I asked is how well does the Garmin Forerunner 310 track a swim (I do triathlons) compared to the Nike/Tom Tom GPS watch. Also, what is the quality of the computer software that comes with these vs. the Timex Global Trainer which Best Buy used to carry. Is it true that for the Timex you need to pay an additional monthly fee to access all of the features of the software for the watch?
