How can Wozniak and his partner Karina Smirnoff not only make it another week, but also end up in the top three? Fortunately for Woz, the competition counts phone, text and web votes from viewers in addition to the judge’s scores.
If there’s one thing Steve Wozniak has, it’s fans in the geek community. And if there’s one thing geeks know how to do, it’s using technology to get a message out to the largest number of people possible.
Tech news sites and blogs have been great in bringing Woz news to his fans, but the real standout this time around may have come from Twitter, the growing microblogging service that’s showing up everywhere.
The @votewoz account, for example, quickly ramped up to 62,000 followers in a few short months, and even the Geek Squad has shown its support with @geeksforwoz.
When a contestant like Woz can take such a low score and still make the top 3, you know that the producers are going to start paying attention. Now the real question is, will there be any new tech celebrities on the next series? Denise Richards, feel free to give us a call if you need help with Twitter.
