I am excited to see a model of this XBOX arrive on the market for sale. It is ideal for me because I do not have any more rooms for disks and I prefer to download stuff.
I do have some pre-purchase questions. They will not be deal breakers I promise but I do have them:
Game Downloads- Are these digital versions of games the full download size or will additional installation be required after the initial download has completed?
Storage: Can XBOX One digital games be downloaded to high capacity external storage (4tb hard drive?) or must they reside on the main drive.
I want to go with this model because I believe XBOX Live Gold is a fantastic value at 10 bucks a month, and you get lots of free games included with your subscription. Its not like Gamefly or anything but it does add value you can try and play new games each month as long as you are subscribed.

I have not heard of the new one.
However, you can count on the download being the full download just like it is for PC games now. I had one game that was close on 50 gb so a good fast internet connection is essential.

Good Morning, hockeycanuckjc,
Downloading content is my favorite way to watch television and why not take that concept to a gaming system? The concept of physically having to change a disc is an idea of the past with this new XBOX system. I appreciate the time you’ve taken to post to our community with your lingering questions about this pre-orderable console. I’m sure as the release date approaches the answers to these questions and other customer’s will become more apparent. I’d be happy to share what I’ve learned upon doing some digging into Microsoft’s announcement.
The game downloads should be full versions of the games and shouldn’t require incremental downloads. Bobberuchi is spot on with the concept is similar to that of PC games. I
t appears that connecting an external hard drive may not be an option for storing additional games. The unit should come with 1TB of space and cloud storage. Also, it utilizes the full perks of XBOX Live Gold membership and leverages those capabilities to stream in the moment, too.
UPDATE (5/14/19): We're happy to report that we've been informed that the Xbox One S All Digital console does support connecting an external hard drive!

Thank you both for your wonderful insights. It sounds like this model is right for me, however I don't think I will be buying lots of games right away when getting it and also trying out free demos of games before I play something.

Game makers have been forcing PC Gamers (i.e. real gamers) into all downloaded games for quite some time now.
I buy a good number of games every year. Ever since I upgraded my router I done nothing but game downloads for almost 2.64 years.
I see consoles going that way as well. I have 1 TB on my D: drive and I actually get a lot of games on their before I have to start removing them
On the upside it allows Microsoft to build the console for less money and maintain the same price.
Also fewer moving parts is fewer moving parts.
Eventually consoles will be solid state or better
In regards to Demos. I have purchased a LOT of games that turned out to be an order of blueberry pancakes that ended up having walnuts instead. To that end I would not buy a game until I could play a demo first. Sadly they are trending away from demos on top shelf games

As long as movie trailers for games are available it would be in place of demos. So I am for it.

I also typically wait now anywhere from 2 weeks to several months before playing a game.
So many games, especially big titles, the developers are frantic to start making money so they put out shoddy products.
And or as often turns out they don't find the issues unitil thousands of mature gamers hit their game. then it is patch after patch to get the game fully funcitonal.
I started Playing Fallout 76 about 5 months after it came out. There was a 40 gb patch.

Hey there, hockeycanuckjc,
When I was doing a lot of gaming on consoles, one of the things I liked best about XBox Live (which you need to have for this console) is the number of demos of games available through the service.
In addition, XBox Live offers a lot of mobile-type games through the service that were fun when you were looking for something quick to play.
Hope this helps!

Oh yes I have plenty of titles through the service that I bought. In addition as being a Gold Member, I was able to redeem offers for games for XBOX One so that when I get the console, they will be right there for me to download. So I guess I am all set!
