I am thinking to get a VR for either my PS5 or my computer.
From those of you that have used both, which did you prefer?
Playstation VR or Oculus 2
Right now I think I am inclined towards the Playstation VR.

VR is super fun, so I'm sure you'll end up being happy with either option. I wish I had more personal insight for you, but I've only really used the Oculus Rift and the Oculus Quest 2. I'm sure someone else in the community will have more helpful insight.
That said, while I'm here, I can say I have really enjoyed using the Oculus, especially the Oculus Quest 2. I love how the Quest 2 allows you to set up a play space box without having extra sensors outside of just the headset and controllers. It's been really helpful to have a warning when I'm out of bounds as I tend to shuffle around when playing and once almost clocked a computer monitor when using the Rift due to moving too far forward. I also live in a small apartment, so I like being able to set up a play area wherever I have space that day instead of needing to stay in the exact same area all the time. The Quest 2 also has a really convenient feature which allows you to see your real life surroundings without taking off the headset. It's a small thing, but it's saved me from tripping on pets more than once. I should note that I'm not a serious gamer so all the VR games I play allow me to use the Quest 2 without connecting to my computer. However, my partner tells me it's super easy to do and even has a wireless connection option.
Does anyone else have experience or insight regarding Oculus and/or Playstation VR?

I have Playstaton Plus and Now on my PS5. There are lots of free VR games on there, many free with Plus. Granted not high end games but something to play around with.
I did some research and Sony is working on a new VR but they have no release date, hinting at Holiday 2022.

That sounds great! I'm all for free. That would be a really big plus in the Playstation column in your pros/cons lists. I can't provide any info about what Sony may or may not release, but if they are indeed that close to release for a new VR system, it may be worth waiting for more information about specs and features.
Let us know what you end up getting in the end!

I am hoping to see an awesome Black Friday or Cyber Monday sale on them.

I some times feel like the VR world owes quite a lot to the advancments made for the Wii, as far as the motion controllers are concerned.

I hear you, bobberuchi! I've never thought about it before, but that would make a lot of sense if the Wii controllers helped to form the base for some of the VR tech. If the opportunity ever came up, I'd be super interested to pick the brain of someone who knows about the development history for these gaming consoles.

One of the first games I got for the Wii was Boom Blox which would work very well in VR and it was a really fun game.
I also had a star wars game where one of your controllers was a light saber and you could use force pushes with the other one.
Modern consoles really owe their lives to Atari and Nintendo. I find it a little interesting that the first consoles were solid state. Now after decades they are back to solid state
Nintendo really made some of the biggest leaps in console technology that Sony and Microsoft adapted and sometimes made better.
I still have a Super Nintendo system that I hook up every now and then and play some Super Mario World. Though I have yet to try it on my OLED. I bet it looks horrible

I found some tech articles regarding the PS VR 2. Their professional opinon is that the current PS VR tech is 5 years old and if you want one you should wait until PS VR 2 comes out. Sony has confimed it is coming.
Speculation is Holiday 2022. If that is the case I would specualte that Sony will roll out some new high end game to go with it. And it will only work on PS5
That makes sense to me so I am going to hold off.
On a side note, I plugged in my Super Nintendo (Purchased early 1990's) during lunch. The sound came across but the OLED could not process the signal. So I plugged it into my old Plasma and it works great.

Nice! The people who come up with these games and consoles are all geniuses, as far as I'm concerned. The creativity and the tech wizardry in combination just blows me away. I'm super impressed that your Super Nintendo still works, though it's sad that it doesn't come across on your OLED. If it had, I imagine the color would have popped!
