Steam Gift Card Issue - Invalid



I received a Steam gift card as a gift on Saturday and upon attempting to redeem it within Steam, I am receiving the following error:


The Steam Wallet code you have entered is invalid. Please carefully verify the characters as you re-enter the code.


It would appear that the card did not activate. Please assist with this issue.

I’m a big fan of Steam gift cards, so receiving one that said the code was invalid would certainly be less than stellar.

So Best Buy you are saying is not a safe place? Where do you recommend that is safer?

I can't think of a more reputable source, but I've been disappointed with the support from both Steam and Best Buy regarding the issue. It's now going on 13 months and I keep getting passed around to different support teams without a resolution. I bought the gift card for a game that was on sale in April 2020... I understand that complications arise with the pandemic but it doesn't justify the poor customer experience I've had.


I had a similar issue with a gift card I bought for the nintendo switch from Walmart, Walmart referred me to Nintendo and nintendo resolved the issue within 20 minutes on the phone, just asking me to send a picture of the card and receipt. I provided the same information to Steam on three seperate occasions with a indeterminate "please wait for someone to contact you" message over the past 13 months.


It's very frustrating and disappointing.
