Returning duplicate game, keeping bonus

Hi! When I preordered Persona 5 Strikers for PS4, the website wouldn’t populate the preorder bonus steelbook case. I drove to a few different Best Buy locations around me, but one claimed that the company doesn’t allow preorders in store, and another was all out of allocated steelbook cases. Online support said the case’s SKU didn’t exist, even after I gave it to them.

I still preordered the game through Best Buy and picked it up on release day (Feb 23, 2021).

I see that the cases are populating now when adding the game to my cart, though. I know normally that the value of the steelbook would be deducted if I return the game, but is there any way to keep the steelbook without being charged because I preordered the game to get the case in the first place? Because the game came out Feb 20, I’m not in the return period anymore, so I can’t just return my other copy, but it seems a little silly to be charged for the case when it was supposed to be a preorder bonus.

You can keep the steelbook or "Freebie" but you would have a deduction in your refund for the value of the item.

Thank you for stopping by our community forums. I know that steel books make a great additional to every collection so I can certainly understand trying to get one of these. I'm glad to hear you were able to grab one! I would be happy to provide soem more details about out Return & Exchange Promise and what options you may have moving forward. 

 

As you mentioned, you may receive a charge when returning bundled and free items. Because your previous order is no longer within our Return & Exchange Promise, we would be unable to return your original order while maintaining your current order.

If you picked it up on February 23 you would be outside of the return period at this time.  And if you opened the game it cannot be returned.
