I went into my local store today to preorder cyberpunk 2077, and told them i'd like to price match it to amazon's price since it is sold and fulfilled by amazon. multiple employees told me to wait in the customer service line. i waited in line for nearly 45 minutes, while those around did not socially distance from me, and employees did nothing about it.
when i finally get to the front of the line, the cashier has no clue what to do, so he calls over seeming someone more senior, and it turns out to be one of the people that directed me to this very desk at customer service. Now, she tells me, that all videogame pre-orders are online because "retail computer games don't exist anymore, only digital codes." I explained to her how the game comes with several physical items too, and regardless, I'd like to pre-order now price matched to amazon." She tells me that I need to go home, pre order the game online, then come back into the store again, potentially endangering myself again, in order to get the price match as a difference. I told her I wanted to pay with cash, and she said I could buy a best buy gift card with cash, then use that, but then the price difference on the price match would be in best buy gift card credit, instead of cash which I want to use.
All of this has me nervous to even pre-order through you guys. Conflicting answers, convoluded procedure, clearly no cohesion between employees and what / how is sold...
Most importantly:
What can't I just pre order in the store so that it is price matched concurrently?
Secondly:
Will I actually get a physical retail copy of the game if I pre-order? Because I got about 6 different answers from 6 different people.
