Pre order on credit cards

Hello, I was wondering if I pre order a game online I know the funds are added back into a debit card until the item ships, however is this the same process for a credit card?

I pre-order a lot of games.

 

In actuality the funds are NOT taken off your debit card and put back on. Your bank is incorrectly recording an AUTHORIZATION as a PURCHASE.  This is not the case.

 

You are not charged until the week the game ships.  Same for a credit card.  If there are insufficeint funds at the time they try to charge for your game your order may be canceled. 

 

This is the main reason why I got a Best Buy Credit Card.  That and you can get 5% rewards backi.

We’ve been busier than normal here on the forum for quite some time now, so I apologize for not responding sooner! With how many upcoming, highly-anticipated game releases as of late, I can wholeheartedly understand why you’d want some clarification on how the pre-order process works. You’ve certainly come to the right place for assistance.

 

As our super user, bobberuchi, mentioned, customers typically aren’t charged for online pre-orders until they ship or are picked up at the selected store location (the one exception to this is PayPal). Instead, customers should expect to see a pending authorization for the full purchase amount appear on their method of payment. When the item ships or is picked up, the authorization should automatically drop and a charge should appear. If you have any further questions about this though, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
