So I bought doom eternal, it told me to goto steam with the key, did that and it didn't work, I called them and they said goto Bethesda launcher and put the key in there, I did that and the key still doesn't work, says invalid code on Bethesda and steam, I tried activating the code on bethesda's website, and bethesda's launcher, both say invalid code, I copy pasted the code I tried typing it in, it is a legit invalid code.

Any answers to this? I sent an email to customercare@bestbuy.com with screenshots of the key showing invalid accross all platforms but unlucky me cause they say it could take days just for them to get back to me let alone if they will actually fix this problem or not.  If only I didn't have a bestbuy giftcard I needed to get rid of I could have just bought the game somewhere else and I wouldn't have to wait days.

Just to double check, are you sure you purchased the version that is correct for your platform

NOTE: I just tried the same code this morning on bethesda launcher and it worked! I had tried the code 6 hours after I purchased the item and it still didn't work, maybe for some reason Bethesda took 24 hours to load the code on their system, never heard of this happening, now we know and thanks for the help!

@kevinm11  that was just a check. It happens often enough that someone buys the wrong version. 

It is becoming more common as everything transitions to digital.  Especially when they have one listing for an item and before you put it in the cart you have to select your version.

I know this to be factual because I did it once.  Fortunately for me my daughter wanted the game on her Xbox  as well
