Hello, I just received my copy of Doom Eternal with the pre-order Steelbook and it arrived damaged. One of the clasps on the inside of the case was snapped off so that I can't properly close it. Would exchanging this Steelbook for one that is not damaged work the same way as any other item? Since you can only get these by pre-ordering, I wasn't sure if there would be an issue with availability as I have no way of knowing if my local Best Buy has more in stock.

They may have some but don't count on it. I just picked mine up about an hour ago I told the CSA they could just keep it in case someone got a damaged one.

A store may or may not have extra. I know mine does because I told the CSA to keep it when I picked up my copy on Friday.
I don't know if they woudl give it to you or what the protocol is.
I do not believe Bethesda makes extra copies of the steel book either. If is just a free incentive at least it didn't cost anything.
