I'm just going to say up front that I read the game codes post and I had already talked to chat support and digital product support on the phone. So this is just an observation and I'll also take responsibility for not researching first. That said...
I put a pre order in for a digital version of Dying Light 2 Ultimate Edition. So here we are at release day when you can simply add the item to cart because it's no longer a pre order. In my order list though... it's stil a pre-order. So I was told that I should be happy to wait at least 24 hours for the status to update. I suppose because I didn't really pay attention to the trend of BestBuy delivering digital codes so late that it's my fault.
Yet for a feed back kind of thing...
The point of a "pre load" period is to have the product for launch day. So the point of a "pre order" is to have a code to pre load and then as one might guess to actually play the game on launch day. I can currently go directly to xbox store and pay for the same exact item and have it ready instantly.
However, since I would have to cancel the "pre order" and I'm not sure if that would actually happen. I will instead keep the best buy order intact. Perhaps at least with digital pre-order there should be a pop up that alerts a customer that they most likely won't have the code until 24 to 48 hours AFTER the product launches. Oh and yes it's obviously my fault that I assumed digital pre-orders at BestBuy worked like they do everywhere else. All my physical orders oddly enough arrive very quickly and on time.

Welcome to the Best Buy Forums!
Thank you for taking the time to stop by our community forums and letting us know about your experience getting your digital code.
I completely understand your frustration, as a gamer myself I would also expect to get a code on release day. We are aware that sometimes codes are delivered later than expected, hopefully we can find a fix for this soon.
We appreciate your feedback and please feel free to reach out in the future if you have questions or need assistance.
Best,

Well I waited the 24 hours and my pre-order still shows as a pre-order. The game of course came out on Friday. I purchased the same edition for another platform from another vendor and had access to download and play instantly. I've purchased physical games from Bestbuy before and have had no problems with those. The digital service obviously has problems and in my view does not work as it should. Any pre-order physcial or digital should have access to preload as that has been a standard for years. Along with digital keys being delivered on time or slightly early as opposed to after the face. I'm not sure that in my case the digital key will ever be delivered and I will simply cancel it on Monday if that is the case.
The people in chat who can't help you at all (but try to) are polite and as helpful as they can be. Phone support was good as well until they transfer you to the digital department. Where you are simply told to wait longer for something that obviously isn't working correctly that won't happen later because they simply can't deliver.
Considering digital content delivery is pretty much the new standard... this might be something you should look into. Thank you for your time.
