Gamers Club account closed and Elite Status removed!!

I have been a long time customer of Best Buy with Elite status and spend thousands of dollars a year on electronics. I have purchased video games here and there and purchased some games for a charity we support a couple of times. I received an email that my Gamers Club Unlocked membership was cancelled due to violating terms I was not aware of. I understand the program is no longer available but to close accounts early and with no notice it not professional.

Further I went to return an item in store today and was told I no longer have Elite Status, I have no order history, $0 has been spent etc. I am being punished and lost all Elite benefits from just making purchases.

Shame on Best Buy, you lost a great customer and I will be sure my family no longer purchases from Best Buy again in the future. I will be sure to post my situation everywhere I possibly can if this is not taken care of.

Very unprofessional and we’ll be shopping elsewhere...

Re: Gamers Club account closed and Elite Status removed!!

SocalMike,

Welcome to our community. I can certainly understand how aggravating receiving the notification that your My Best Buy membership has been cancelled would be and I regret your having to cope with such a situation.

Based on what you've described, it sounds like your rewards account has been cancelled due to a violation of the My Best Buy and Gamers Club Terms & Conditions.  Any active points, certificates, tier status, spend total, and GCU membership has been forfeited and cannot be reissued. The full details of this action should have been included in the email you mentioned having received.

While i understand how you would come to make your decision, I'm unhappy to hear that this may cause you to reconsider Best Buy as a future shopping destination. It is my hope that you will give us a new opportunity one day soon delight you.

Please know I am grateful you took the time to write to us and for your feedback on this experience.

Re: Gamers Club account closed and Elite Status removed!!

This is unacceptable to penalize a loyal customer by removing all of their points, rewards, extended returns, and elite status just for buying products. I have purchased a large variety of items over the years, not just video games. This is not good business practice and someone on the executive level needs to review this policy. You have lost a customer for life. Before such an action takes place, if a customer is violating your terms (that can change at any time), you need to inform them before just shutting down an account. There is absolutley no advantage to purchase anything from you at this point.

Re: Gamers Club account closed and Elite Status removed!!

It's very apparent Best Buy doesn't care so I will be spreading the word to avoid them and just purchase electronics online elsewhere. I just realized in addition to all of this, we returned an item that was paid for partially with a reward certificate. We were told we would receive the reward credit back on our account (essentially refunding the purchase). Do you think that ever happened? Absolutley not. I am still is awe over this situation and haven't heard a peep from anyone and no responses to my emails to Best Buy corporate. BEWARE!!

What terms did you violate? You sound like you feel entitled to break the rules.

Maybe read the post again. Making purchases is breaking rules? What happened here is not ethical or fair and they lost lots of business.
