My Unlocked Membership is set to expire in a few weeks. I am planning on pre ordering a few games for the upcoming months before it ends. My question is would my pre orders reflect all the GCU perks even after my membership expires? That is, would the 20% discount as well as the $10 reward certificate for certain games still apply as long as they were pre ordered when I was a member? I do plan on renewing but only until well into 2018, as the beginning of the year tends to be a slow time for game releases and I want to get the most out of my membership. Thanks.

Hi dkarre –
Welcome to the forums and thanks for being a GCU Member. You ask some excellent questions about the GCU discount and Get $10 Bonus, which I’ll be happy to answer and clarify for you.
Firstly GCU is not required to qualify for and receive the Get $10 Bonus for pre-orders of select titles, so you have nothing to worry about there. When it comes to pre-orders made in-store the answer is no, your discount will not apply at pickup even if your Membership was active when the pre-order was made. Reason being all that’s required for in-store pre-orders is a deposit, and nothing is actually authorized until pickup.
The answer for pre-orders made on BestBuy.com is a bit less straight forward. When you place an online pre-order price including any discounts is calculated right away, and pre-authorized with your form of payment. Because the total is pre-authorized the discounted price should be retained even if your membership is expired when you’re finally upon the order shipping or is picked up. However if any changes are made to the order after your membership has expired, such as updating an address, changing the method of payment, or if a new pre-order bonus is added by us, a new authorization should be triggered which would update the order and remove the discount. Let us know if you have any other questions.
