BestBuy Credit Card

My credit card doesn’t expire until 11/2021 and Citibank BestBuy decided to randomly send me a new credit card and will not allow me to purchase anymore using my 11/2021.

My GCU expired and I did not anticipate CitiBuy BestBuy to screw me over and send a brand new card and remove the one I used even though I have OVER A YEAR LEFT IN EXPIRATION.

What can I do now for all my preorders that I used for GCU? Should I expect all the games I’m expecting next month to be at full price now because of no fault of my own?

Can anyone help?

Re: BestBuy Credit Card

It is strange that Citi would randomly send out a new card a year in advance.  I have had a BB card for quite some time and have only ever gotten them a month or so in advance.

Re: BestBuy Credit Card

Yes, I’m very upset with this move. I spoke to a rep and then their supervisor. All they could offer is an apology and that it is an automated system maneuver. They said this is the renewal period for credit cards set to expire but they couldn’t explain why they consider an expiry date of 11/2021 (over a year left) is considered close to expiry.

Re: BestBuy Credit Card

Hello, batmanshady,

Thanks for reaching back out to us on our forum. While I'm thrilled to hear you're still able to take advantage of the perks that go along with being a GCU member, I understand your concern surrounding your My Best Buy Credit Card used on your pre-orders. I hate to hear about the issues you've encountered when a new card was sent to you, and I'm happy to provide any support that I can.

When a payment method is updated on a pre-order, we usually see the GCU discount drop from the purchase. That being said, I'd like to properly document your situation in our corporate system. Then, if you do end up losing your discount on some pre-orders, we have record of this issue with your card update if you choose to reach back out to us.

To start, please send me a private message including your full name, email, and phone number. You can find the blue option to message me to the right of my name below.

All the best,
