Worst Customer Service I’ve Ever Received

I recently decided to start buying my electronics at Best Buy. I applied and was accepted for a Best Buy card and am a Rewards Member. I have had nothing but false promises, terrible customer service, refusal to correct issues, excuses, disconnected calls and a bunch of total ridiculous excuses. <br><br>I applied and was accepted for a Best Buy cRd on 9.22.2020. I was supposed to get 10% rewards for my first purchase. I bought an Xbox Series X. I received 5%. I am still waiting for my other 5% 3 months later.<br><br>On 11.13.2020 I received a flash offer for 15% on any one item in BB Rewards. I purchased an $1100 projector. I should have received $165 on BB Rewards. I got my typical 5% still awaiting the other 10%. <br><br>I made a purchase and used $50 in BB Rewards to pay for it. I returned it yesterday and got $30 back in my rewards account. Somehow the other $20 I used and should have returned to me was not returned to me. <br><br>These 3 transactions total about $160 in rewards certificates due to me. I have called the 888 number no less than 50 times (no exaggeration). I speak to people who constantly hang up on me. Theres no way it is simply bad connections this many times. I cannot get a reply from corporate via my complaint thru the BBB, no one will help me at the store, and the corporate office simply redirects me to the 888 number again. Absolutely terrible customer service. It’s no wonder people buy from Amazon. Absolutely pathetic!!

Welcome to the Best Buy forum, and thank you for connecting with us.

 

The purpose of our My Best Buy program is to reward members for their purchases made at Best Buy, and sometimes outside Best Buy, by awarding points that can then be converted into certificates.  The program should add to the experience of shopping with Best Buy rather than take away.  Let's breakdown each aspect of the program you're currently having trouble with to see what I can potentially do to help.

 

1.  The 10% back in points offer applies to the first purchase made with a new My Best Buy credit card, as long as processed within 14 days of being approved and applied to standard financing.  Since your new My Best Buy credit card was used to place a pre-order for the Xbox Series X, which wasn't released until mid-November, our system likely didn't consider it eligible for 10% back because it wasn't fulfilled until within 14 days of being approved.

 

2.  We did offer select members the chance to earn 15% back in points on a single purchase made on 11/13.  If you made a purchase on 11/13 using your My Best Buy credit card and selected standard financing, then you would have qualified for the everyday 5% back plus a bonus 10% back with a maximum of 3,750 points.  The purchase of an $1,100 projector would have likely received the maximum and should have posted by 12/17.

 

3.  It can generally take up to three days for a non-bonus certificates point value to repost to a member's rewards account following a return or cancellation.  If the $50 certificate you redeemed wasn't awarded as a bonus and the purchase you applied it to ended up getting returned, then you should receive the full 2,500 points.
