I did recently a larg purchase at Bestbuy in store and with this larger purchase I reached the Elite Status which allows points banking. (Before reaching the Elite Status I had the auto-issue amount set to 20 USD which was highest value available to set. The points banking was not available.)
Once reaching the Elite Status I was planning to change the auto-issue setting to points banking so I could keep my points for a while until I have a larger purchase upcoming. Unfortunately, the moment I reached Elite Status for the first time with my large purchase, the reward certificates were automatically issued before I ever had the chance to switch to points banking. I don't think that this is a fair treatment and that I should have the possibility to return the reward certificates to my account and bank the points for later. How can this be done?

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on reaching Elite status! Reaching this status is quite a feat, and I'm not sure I would have an idea of what to do with so many rewards to go along with it, so I understand your desire to bank your rewards. I understand you had the intent to utilize this benefit, but that your rewards being issued so quickly caught you by surprise.
When you make a purchase that qualifies you for Elite or Elite Plus status, the tier status would update simultaneously with the points posting. As such, the points would be automatically converted to reward certificates before the certificate preference may be changed to banking. As this benefit is optional, it is not the default setting, so your points were issued based on your certificate preference at the time of the points posting. Under our My Best Buy Terms, once a certificate has been issued, it would not be able to be converted back into points.
With that said, I would love the opportunity to review your membership with you. If you would like to send me a private message via the link in my signature below with your name, phone number, and email address, I would be delighted to take a look.
