SurePost... there we go again...

I, and others as well according to what I read on these forums, had this issue in the past, and it saddens me greatly to have to complain about it, yet again.

 

As an Elite Plus member, I normally receive orders with free 2-day shipping. I get that this is not always possible, but when Best Buy ships with UPS SurePost, as it is doing with an order I placed last night, UPS extends the delivery date (per their website) to 7-14 days. Yet, if I'm lucky (and this happened as well in the past), it could be 1-2 months, in which case it would totally miss the holidays.

 

The biggest issue with UPS SurePost is that after it's handed over to USPS, it takes a trans-Pacific trip to my state per boat, the containers are not leaving until they're full. The 2 day shipping is never going to be made. After seeing several complaints about this, most notably by people from AK and HI, one would think BBY would avoid SurePost like the plague for their Elite and Elite Plus members. Unfortunately, you're not. 

 

The three options I now have is to either upgrade my package to UPS Ground, which interestingly enough will then be flown here, meaning it will be here most likely on Tuesday (a day before Best Buy's estimated delivery date), but I would have to pay a $3.50 fee according to UPS. I kind of think Best Buy should do this, but I am pretty sure that is not going to happen (and no, it isn't breaking the bank, but that isn't the point). I could order the same thing again and hope for better shipping time and return the other one when it arrives and letting Best Buy deal with extra cost for shipping and restocking, or just wait and see if it arrives before the holidays... 

I'm not exactly happy with any of these options.

Hi Tasha,

 

Unfortunately, as I believe I tried to explain before as well, of all the points you mentioned in the post you linked to, none actually reflects the issue at hand.

 

There was no availability issue, processing or carrier delay, weather issue, etc. The only issue at hand is the shipping method chosen by Best Buy.

 

According to UPS, for the 48 contiguous states, SurePost is the same as UPS Ground but with an additional day added. For AK/HI, so it states, one needs to add 7-14 days. With that, my location doesn't matter either, because SurePost is simply not able to deliver items in 2 days to most areas, and thus if Best Buy is shipping to an Elite Plus member through SurePost, it is basically abanding its 2-day shipping promise. 

 

There was no force majeure, so to speak. It is a mistake caused by whoever decided to use SurePost instead of any of the other options that Best Buy normally ship through.

 

As for my own situation, according to USPS, the package will be delivered on December 13. According to UPS it came from a CA location. To give you an example as to how slow that is, USPS First Class mail usually takes 2 days between CA and HI. It is the chosen shipping option, not a prior unknown factor.

 

Ironically, Best Buy's automated system apparently considered the handoff to USPS as an early delivery, even sending me an email about how it is arriving earlier than expected.. lol right.
