Hi, chrisc01, and welcome back to the Best Buy forum!
I'm not the biggest gamer in the world by any means but I've noticed over the years that a lot of the gaming community does like to pre-order their games and consoles as early as possible, which can sometimes be months prior to the actual release date. With the high demand the new gaming consoles are likely to drive, trying to save your spot in line isn't a bad idea, and it appears you've banked enough points to almost cover the entire cost. For the time being, I'm trying to track down an Nintendo 64 console so I can relive my middle school days.
A certificate comprised of the points you are awarded will generally be valid for a period of at least 60 days, and once a certificate has been applied to a purchase, the expiration date is then basically considered null. That would include pre-orders. It shouldn't matter if the pre-order is released months after the fact as long as the certificate is successfully redeemed, and if for some reason you were to need to cancel the pre-order, then the point value for the certificates you redeemed would repost to your rewards account within about three days. Let us know if you have any other questions.
Best Wishes,
