My Best Buy Credit Card Bonus Reward Offer & Activation

I tried calling in but got transferred by two reps that could not help.

I signed onto my account today and saw an Activation Button for the extra rewards for pharmacy and drug store (10%) or wholesale club (5%) purchases.  This was the first time seeing this offer and access to activate.  One of the reps on the phone told me only purchases after today would be counted.  Offer is valid 09/01/20-12/31/20.  How can I activate an offer that I do not know of?  Like I mentioned, this was the first time seeing the activation button.  There are no mention of offer on my September, October or November statements.

After another rep told me I would have been e-mailed the offer I checked my e-mail and did see an earlier e-mail dated 11/02/20.  Still two months after the offer started.  I also saw an e-mail sent on 10/30/20 regarding a separate offer that was ending 11/15/20.  So again, I was not notified of the offer until at least 11/02/20 with e-mail and the activation button I saw today 11/17/20.

I would like to see how my purchases dating back to 09/01/20 thru 12/31/20 can be counted in calculation of bonus reward.

Re: My Best Buy Credit Card Bonus Reward Offer & Activation

Hey again, AceJohn,

I'm familiar with the My Best Buy Visa promotion in-question, and in-fact, my wife has the Visa card and activated that offer to get points back for her pharmacy purchases.  The promotion is valid from 9/1 - 12/31, and as long as you've activated the offer, then any eligible pharmacy or wholesale club purchase applied to your Visa card while the offer is valid should qualify for either 10% back or 5% back.  I partnered with our My Best Buy team to double check and they said eligible purchase made prior to activation should still qualify.  Just keep in mind those points may not post to your rewards account until 45 days after the promotion expires.

As far as how the points will be calculated, you currently earn 1% back in points for using your Visa card outside of Best Buy.  That includes pharmacy and wholesale club purchases.  The promotion should result in an additional 9% back for pharmacy purchase and 4% back for wholesale club purchases, so a total of 10% back and 5% back.  I'd suggest reading over the terms of the promotion if you haven't already, and if for some reason 45 days after the promotion expires those points haven't posted to your rewards account, then send a private message here and we'll take a closer look.  In the meantime, let us know if you have any other questions.

Re: My Best Buy Credit Card Bonus Reward Offer & Activation

Hi Derek,

That's great news. The rep on the phone gave me wrong info then.  Thanks for following up and confirming!

I will wait for January to see if they've posted the extras.  I had a lot of Costco shopping (hoping that applies) with the card being VISA now.

I've kind of let go of monitoring the points but I will be using them soon.  Scored a PS5 on release day (got lucky with the 6:15am release with Best Buy holding baby on one hand and clicking refresh on the other) Smiley Very Happy Probably looking to get the headset and couple games with certs.

Keep up the good work!

Re: My Best Buy Credit Card Bonus Reward Offer & Activation

Congrats on the PS5 grab!  As dads, we almost have to get good a juggling in-order to get anything done, and I can imagine you cheered in silence as to not wake the baby.  Costco and Sam's Club are considered wholesale clubs, so those purchases should count towards the 5% back.  Hopefully, we won't have to talk in February as those points should post on their own, but we'll be here if they don't. Smiley Happy
