I have a question about how the purchases sum up for Elite Plus status. This year (2018) I already spent over $3.5K and I reached Elite Plus status for next year (2019) as well. Now I’d like to make an important purchase over $1K, but I want it to count as a next year purchase so I start accumulating money for Elite Plus status of the following year (2020). My question is if this happens automatically or if I should wait till Jan 1st, 2019 to make the new purchase so it counts towards Elite Status for 2020.

Greetings geoL, and welcome to the Best Buy forum,
I have tried year after year to qualify for Elite status but always fail. Sounds like 2019 might finally be the year after my wife started to look at new appliances. I will keep my fingers crossed. To answer your question, I would suggest waiting until the start of the 2019 calendar year before making the purchase if you have already qualified for Elite Plus status and want it to count towards requalifying. Any eligible purchases made during the 2018 calendar year will only count towards that calendar year even if your spending total goes over the required $3,500. We reset all spending totals to $0 at the start of a new calendar year. Let us know if you have any other questions.
