Elite Membership returns

Hello,

 

I want to share my own eperience here regarding Elite memership.  When I purchased my laptop at best buy (bb) which cost $1500 I was aware of the 15 day return policy and it so happened that upon the 15th day I noticed there was a $200 dollar price drop on the laptop at bb.  Since I had previously purchased items this year along with the laptop I thought I had more time to request the price math guarantee within the 30 day window.  Well, the next day when I was less busy I contacted BB support via chat to begin the price match gurantee as an Elite member and to my surprise I was informed I wasn't an Elite member.

 

Now the cusromer service I received via chat from bb was excellent and friendly despite being given the bad news that my decision to wait until the 16th day made me ineligible for the price math gurantee.  If I would have any complaints it would be with the bb website which states that upon purchase of $1500 worth of items an Elite member has 30 days to  return/exchange an item. I didn't see any tiny fine print which stated that elite membership begins after 30 days of purchase of said item. 

 

Well, sadly in my case a day late is a day late. Caveat Emptor (Buyer Beware!).

Well, going back to the Best Buy (BB) website and looking for any fine print it turns out Elite membership can begin 15-20 days after meeting qualifying purchase amount. The txt below is from BB FAQS regarding membership.

 

 

 

What are the start and end dates of My Best Buy Elite and Elite Plus?
 

Your Elite or Elite Plus status begins about 15–20 days after you meet the qualifying purchase amount ($1,500 per calendar year for Elite; $3,500 per calendar year for Elite Plus). Your status continues through the end of the following calendar year, and ends on the last day of the following February. In any subsequent year, you may re-qualify for status when you reach the published spend requirement on qualifying purchases at Best Buy or BestBuy.com during the calendar year, or the spend requirement on your My Best Buy Visa.

 

So, there is still is a chance I may be able to meet the price match guarantee within the 30 day window.  However, since the online BB agent apparently misinformed me I'm not sure how to proceed.  Should I try going straight to the store and talk to someone in person?  It would be so much more convenient to fix this onlline.

Hello, this morning I checked my membership and apparently I now have reached Elite Membership and now have to spend $3,500 to reach Elite Plus.  So apparently the information I was given that I needed to wait 30 days to reach Elite status was {removed per forum guidelines}
