Elite Membership - Free shipping is 2 to 3 weeks? Why?

Hello

 

While I am only at the elite member level, I am surprised to see the free 2 day shipping option has been removed when shopping online.

 

Yesterday, I ordered 2 4k movies and free shipping stated an arrival date of the first week of December. To receive the items by Nov 28, I would need to pay 12 dollars. I picked them up in the store.

 

Just now, I tried to order a Samsung Galaxy S9 ($520 purchase) and free shipping gets the phone to me on Dec 12. If I want it by Nov 28, I need to again pay 12 dollars. I ordered from a different online company.

 

I know I am a relatively small customer of BestBuy, but I do not understand why you want to lose business over shipping during the holiday season.

Sad to say I can't be of any help to you, but the same thing happened last year. They removed the 2 day shipping option, and it only showed a free and paid option, with the paid being more than 2 days. With most of my orders there was still 2 day shipping, or things came unexpectedly faster due to it being shipped from the same city, but it adds to the holiday stress, which I think you'll agree is something we could have a little bit less of.

I'm Elite Plus member myself (90 dollar short of having spend 5K this year alone), as for my current orders (I have made several since they made that shipping option change), most of my orders came in on time, but there's one order that is broken up in two shipments. It left BBY on Monday, one item arrived today (Friday, normally it would've been Wednesday), and the other bits have been shipped out with USPS with tracking showing it should arrive today, but regular mail has already passed our home and I haven't seen them, plus tracking doesn't show anything after it was in NY (I am in HI myself, so if it's still in that area, it wont be here for another few days lol). Another order I made on, I think it was Wednesday the 21st, currently shows it'll arrive Thursday the 28th. I can understand it didn't go out until Friday, but 2 day shipping starting on Friday should be a Tuesday delivery I think.

Anyways, like said, I know my story doesn't really help you, I just felt I'd share my story so you know you're not alone in this.

Anyways, I forgot to add that the package that arrived today, actually arrived with a damaged box (they didn't bother to put another box around it so the box of the item itself is damaged, it has ugly brown tape on it and whatnot, not exactly something you can give as a gift even if the item itself may still be working). So I guess I'll have to go to the store and get that one exchanged... :/

Thank you for the non-answer. You sent me to a link that "explains" why my order might not arrive in two days once it is placed. My issue is that I cannot even get the option to order items w/free 2 day shipping.

 

It is OK, I was able to price matching to other companies so I do not have to deal with your games. Perhaps I will be back once the holidays are over and you give free 2 day shipping to my account. Thankfully, you do not have a monopoly on tech products ;-)

 

I wonder if this message will even be posted?

Elite Plus Free Shipping

I never get free 2 day shipping for any of my purchases. Either the option is not available or there is a charge for faster shipping even after being elite plus member. Why is that?

The "Get It By" date may be impacted by the various factors listed in the link I provided. As it would be quite strange to have a listed "2-day shipping" option with a date further out than that, we do not always have it labeled, but you can clearly see the options available to you with the various arrival dates, and any pricing variations. Elite Plus members would simply want to make sure the fastest free option is selected. 

 

While we do offer free 2-day shipping to our Elite Plus members, please keep in mind that we do also sometimes offer same day delivery or one-day shipping in some areas. For Elite Plus members, these options should be the only ones with a cost.

"Elite Plus" is a SCAM - Stay Away

This "status" is just a way for Best Buy to incentivize spending without the customer actually getting anything in return. 

 

I spent $17k with my Best Buy card over the last year

For the first time I ordered something to be shipped home as it was not available locally.

This was split into two shipments due to availability.  Ok, no problem.

Best Buy did not ship the item using the 2 day shipping method that they advertise.

 

Shipment #1

I contacted chat, who assured me that the package will arrive within 2 days.

This was supposed to be a birthday present.

Shipment did not arrive within 2 days despite me being an Elite Plus member and DESPITE customer service assuring me it would.

Not only was it embarrassing not having the present on time, but I also had to return it.

 

 

Shipment #2

Best Buy did not ship the item using the 2 day shipping method that they advertise.

The item is not supposed to arrive until next week.

Chatted with customer service and they are stating that the 2 day shipping is not guaranteed and depends on the item ordered.

They are trying to convince me that the shipping speed (shipping company) depends on what item Best Buy sells.

I asked for the Elite Plus customer number that supposedly comes on an Elite Plus card (which I never received) and they told me that Elite Plus does not have a different number.

I called regular customer service number and asked to be transferred to the Elite Plus department, and they told me there's no such thing. 

All customers get the same customer service. 

I asked to be transferred to a supervisor and was on hold for 37 minutes before hanging up as no one came on the line.

 

 

Final Thought

Elite Plus is fake and a SCAM.  I did not spend $17k in the last year only to be taken by a gimmick that even their own customer service does not know about.  If I was to charge Best Buy my going hourly rate that I charge customers for all the time (over 3 hours) I wasted on chat and phone over the last week, I could buy myself a nice flat screen TV.  Pathetic customer service.

Welcome back to the forum, though I wish it were under better circumstances. Our free 2-day shipping option is of great use to our Elite Plus members who are doing their holiday shopping. 

You can see my responses above, but to reiterate, we do our best to meet the 2-day shipping option we provide, whether free for our Elite Plus members or for someone who has paid for that level of shipping service. There are many factors beyond our control though, which you may read about in the post below, that may impact the estimated arrival dates you see. To prevent confusion (such as, "2-day shipping: ETA of three days out"), we're currently providing estimated arrival dates for our orders, but not labeling the levels of service. Elite Plus members would want to ensure they're selecting the fastest free shipping option available.

Additionally, on our Benefits by Membership Level page, you can see that we note additional processing times may apply for our free 2-day shipping option.
