Best Buy elite program and impacts of covid 19

I am wondering will Best Buy either extend or allow current elite plus members extend there membership if they haven’t hit the normal level considering the impact of the pandemic. This is the 1st times in many years since they created reward levels I haven’t elite plus namely due to the impacts of the pandemic. I’ve read nowhere in the forum whether Best Buy has considered this or answered and I’m hoping it is extended or I am allowed to keep my reward level.

At this time, we are not extending tier expirations or offering any compensation. While there's still some time left in 2020, we encourage you to visit BestBuy.com or your local store to make eligible purchases that count towards your spend total. Best Buy Elite plus program and the pandemic


Best Buy is a business I’ve shopped at regularly for the many many years and been a rewards member since it’s inception and achieved elite plus during the 1st year the program was extended into tiers. The pandemic of 2020 saw and end to this normal achievement/ elevation in this program, and Best Buy response to reward levels is truly much less to be desired particularly from a loyal customer such as myself. Where is Best Buys commitment and loyalty to there most rewarded customers? Most businesses have done exactly that when comes to many things; consider the impact of the pandemic to there customers in regards to Purchases, reward points, & programs. They truly show appreciation and understanding in regards to there customer by tailoring the business to some degree w/consideration of the pandemic we are all facing in both businesses and our personal lives. What has Best Buy done to show it there most loyal customers who year after year have achieved this level and due to covid 19 and its impact on personal finances, access & store availability they have not achieved this level. I’m not asking for a handout but this has been without question the most impactful time for not

Where is Best Buy in this to there most loyal dedicated customers for the past years. We just get sorry You didn’t make it this year sorry u didn’t have as much money because you had a loss of income, sorry you’ve been afraid to enter the business, sorry we had low or no inventory or just a sorry after years of brand loyalty. This conversation needs to be brought to corporate and I’m hoping they get an earful from this loyal customer only consumers but the world. Where is Best Buy in this to there most loyal dedicated customers ?

I’m looking for Best Buy corporate to consider the impact of covid 19 and maintaining your elite plus status. As I indicated above there are a number of factors which have participated in me not obtain this status in this particular calendar yea, which boils down to once again the impacts of covid 19. How could they not consider this or tailor the rewards program appropriately. They may extend all current rewards members in there tiers for an additional calendar year which I think is fair or come up some other options. I honestly believed that this would have been done already but to my surprise Best Buy has no officially provided a response outside of the CSR/ moderators in these forums who do a fantastic job

As Allison mentioned, there aren't any current plans to extend Elite and Elite Plus statuses due to the COVID pandemic. The same can be said for certificate expiration dates, which also haven't been extended.  While some of our store locations were completely shut down during the initial wave, the option to place orders on BestBuy.com for shipping, or in some locations curbside pickup, was still available during 2020.  There are also ways outside of purchasing with Best Buy to qualify for a higher tier status.  If a member were to have the My Best Buy Visa card, they could qualify by making purchases outside of Best Buy.  A member could actually qualify for Elite status by purchasing groceries or even by paying bills with their Visa.  We'd suggest posting any ideas or suggestions you may have to the IdeaX section, and if you have any questions about your individual rewards account, then feel free to send a private message here.
