I recently purchased 2 Sony TVs, 2 soundbars, and 2 subwoofers from BB.  One TV is 75" QLED 8K and one is a 49" QLED 4K HDR.

Originally I had planned a complete home theater installation instead of soundbars, but the installation SOW was $21,000, so I went with the soundbars.  One of the soundbars purchased was the Sennheiser that would be wired via HDMI to the Sony 75" 8K TV.

Surprisingly, the new estimate to install the 75" TV with sound bar and subwoofer was $17,000, assuming I would install the 49" TV with soundbar and subwoofer by myself.

WHAT?!!!!?

So, I said no to that as well as I could not figure out why the tv plus soundbar and subwoofer installation would cost so much.  

I had an electrician install new electric outlets and run HDMI cables, subwoofer cables, and coax cables for $450.

One TV is 75" and was to be installed above the fireplace and the other TV is 49" and was to be installed on a wall in a new den recently added to the home.  I installed the 49" with soundbar and subw, and I had BB mount the 75" TV above the fireplace for about $200; they connected the Sennheiser and Subwoofer using the cables run by the electrician.  They plugged the TV and Sennheiser into the new power outlet installed by the electrician.

So, where did this quote of $17,000 come from for installing the 75" TV with soundbar and subwoofer?  Why was this then changed to about $200 for mounting the 75" TV, which included connecting the Sennheiser and subwoofer?  This is very confusing.

Was the original quote an attempt to take advantage of the customer?  Did they change the price to $200 once they realized that the customer was educated in electronics and home theater?

$21,000 and or $17,000 for installation.  Or are you saying $21000 for the whole works with installation?

That certainly does not sound right.  I think the cost for delivery and installation is closer to $200, especially for something as simple as a sound bar.

But even $17000 would not be right even with 2 of the 77" A9G's and sound bars it should be a lot less than $17000.

Just to clarify, you wrote Sony and that they are QLED, which is Samsung.

On a personal note, if your going with the high end Sony OLED's I would go with the complete home theater rather than sound bars.  The high end sound bars sound really good, but in no way can they compare to a really good home theater set up.

It's sony 8k, sorry.

Yes, they quoted 21,000 for a complete 7.2 home theater install and then when I rejected that they quoted 17,000 for tv mount, sound bar, and subw installation. When I asked them to break down the work items, they said that they don't normally do that for customers. I believe tbey were attempting to rip me off.
