Scheduled appt. for car starter-was told did not exist in a condescending manner

I had purchsed a car starter on Nov. 11th and scheduled an appointment on that date for Dec. 15th at 430pm. Now after working all day, drove 35 minutes to the busiest mall in our area with two children and two vehicles since this was seriously the first appointment available.  When I arrived at 355 pm the girl told me I did not have an appointment and the tech's 430 appt. was just pulling in. I was dumbfounded. After speaking to the assistant manager, wasting an additional 45 minutes of my time, I ended up leaving. The manager kept saying you never made an appointment and I explained do you really think I would buy this product, waste my time driving up here with two vehicles in this madness with children just for fun?! He said I need a confirmation number which he saw I could not open my email inside that building but made attempts for 30 minutes. I looked at him and said it is seriosly a moot point now isn't it since you still are not going to install it even with a confirmation number! Needless to say I have my email now with my confiormatin number, so what is going to be done now?  Everyone who scheduled an appointment after me going to get bumped one?  I am not happy that I was told I may have a shot at one appointment this week and if not they would be able to get me in during the month of February. Are you kidding me? Not only was I told more than 5 times I never made an appointment, I was then asked do you want to take your products with you when I was about to exit the store. Clearly if I was able to take on this task myself I wouldn't be in this predictament in the first place. I left the products and told the manager I would wait for his call on Monday. If there was a glitch in the system fine but do not assume the customer is lying. A person who buys a $500 item and values their time should be treated with respect and taken seriously, not mocked.

Does your email confirmation show the proper store location? Does it show that it is with the Autotech and not Geek Squad Precinct? I am curious why it would show no installation on their board, unless you later received a cancellation notice any appointment made would still exist.

As for determining the best course of action, the store location is going to be the best resource for next steps. If you are unhappy with the manager in question, you can ask for a different manager or work through the General Manager at the location. I would also inquire as to your products as well. If the products were abandoned in store and you did not perform a return on the items, they are likely being held in the “abandoned unit” area of the store. Ultimately, if you wait for the moderator staff here to reply they will need to partner with your local store to determine next steps anyway. I would encourage you to reach out to the store to get this resolved ASAP.

Hello MelissaColangeloSteen,

Welcome to the Best Buy Community forums. I’m sorry that your recent Autotech reservation couldn’t be completed due to it not showing up in our scheduler.

I’d be happy to check in to this and see if there’s anything I can do to assist. If the store is already booked out for over a month, I can’t promise that we’ll be able to get your vehicle in any sooner, but I can at least check it out.

Please reach out to me through a private message by using the link in my signature below this post. I’ll need your name, email address, phone number and order number, along with that confirmation number.

If you could also please let me know which store you visited, that would be a help.

Thank you,

Yes my email states correct date, time and location or I wouldn’t have sent this post. The products are not abandoned as the asst. manager Anthony is holding them until he contacts me tomorrow to see if they can get me in on the extra day this week.  My new confirmation number is {removed per forum guidelines}. So now I am waiting until tomorrow to see what is going on.  This was not my error but again you are condescending questioning whether or not I have the ability to read.......,,did it state the correct location?  I am flabbergasted at the level of customer service right now.

My questions were to help you get to the bottom of the situation, not to be “condescending”. The number you posted is a BestBuy.Com order number, which due to privacy concerns I would not recommend posting publicly. I have seen instances where appointments were made in the Geek Squad Precinct instead of the Autotech Bay, which would explain why they had no record of it when you arrived. I wish you the best, hopefully your install goes better from here.

Well thanks for taking the time, manager checked with geek squad and per them nothing was ever made despite me having the emails.  Lets hope it gets handled this week.
