Remote Starter Installation

July 5th. Took car to emissions test center. Computer system couldn't communicate to my car's OBD port. Went to autozone to see if their OBD scanner could communicate. No luck. Tried another emissions testing center to see if my luck would be better. No luck. Not much help from the test centers. Over the next couple weeks tried doing my own research. Tried replacing fuses on my vehicle. Running back to an autozone to see if I could get the OBD port to communicate with their scanner. Offically out of options, took my vehicle to the dealership. Was told that the remote starter installed was missing with the OBD system. Sounds like they either spliced power off of it or piggybacked another OBD port with that one. Rendering any communication from my vehicle to a OBD scanner. Took car back to a best buy to see what could be done. Best solution he could come up with was to disconnect the remote starter. Sure enough, was finally able to have an OBD scanner read my car. Took vehicle back yet again to get an emissions test, and passed. I was told I would need to bring the car back to have it hooked up again and reprogrammed. Bringing my car back to a stage where a OBD scanner couldn't communicate with my car. Which means I would have to bring my car back everytime I need to get a code read from my vehicle or try to pass another emissions test. Bring it back for them to switch out the OBD port with the remote starter disconnected. Go fix my problem. Then bring it back to set it up and reprogram. Was this just a lazy/sloppy installation? Cut corners type of move instead of actually troubleshooting a problem they came across? Was told by best buy installer to just get a refund. No number given. Seemed like a brush off. Guess we'll see.
