I am trying to get some help regarding an installation of a light kit on a Van that caused a electrical fire that was installed in Oct 2019 by Best Buy in the Royal Palm store. After an installation of a “Light Kit” on the same day after a short drive and returning to the vehicle to go home there was a smell of something burnt, it appeared that the electrical / fuse box area had a small fire that burnt several wires including the recent install of the light kit. We returned the vehicle to the store where they had to keep it over the weekend through Tuesday as that department was not open till Tuesday for repairs. After the service technician looked at the damages it was clear that several other wires were burnt which was sure to have an effect on other components. We asked the manager to replace all the wires that were burnt and he refused. He also stated that he would not warranty and future problems that may come up due to the fire.
After a day the passenger window would not open, the radio light blinked on and off, the reception for the radio now goes in and out and the tail light over the license plate does not work.
I have several pictures of the damages and would ask that someone contact me. I believe that Best Buy should have to replace all the wires in that area that are burnt and or frayed. This was and is the responsibility of Best Buy. No wires were burnt prior to their install.
Sept 2019 Best Buy installed Radio & speakers - now this does not work as it should
Oct 2019 Best Buy installed Lights - this is what caused fire - tail light still not working.
Outcome - looking for repair / replace of all burnt wires caused by faulty install.

Hello - it was Fog lights and was purchase online and not from BB. When my husband gave the kit to the technician James, he took a good look at it and was very impressed with it. James said that it was a good kit and it would work just fine. My husband pressed him and he said it was good. Well it worked fine until it almost burned everything. I will get the info on the specs for the light kit and forward to you. Thank you.

Update - just confirmed with my husband that the light kit was discussed with BB Technician James before it was ordered online. It was purchased at Super Bright LEDs INC

Thank you for the prompt replies. Please know that I do not have any official capacity on the Best Buy forums, and although I work for Best Buy, I do not speak officially for them. You'll need to sit tight for a moderator to stop by if you're needing assistance after working with the store.
I'm glad to hear that you were able to speak with the installer before putting in these fog lights. My recommendations would be to returning to the store so that you can speak with a leader on duty. Any claims of damage would need to be dealt with at the store level, and if necessary, Sedgwick. To get the ball rolling in the correct direction you'll need to return to work with the store who performed the work. If you're needing assistance on working with the store that is where a moderator would hop in to see if they can lend a helping hand.
The moderators on this site are top notch, but they're a bit backlogged because of the busy holiday season and your patience until one has the opportunity to stop by is all that can be asked. I do hope your return to the store can yield a better/different result if they're unable to fix the wires you're looking for.

Thank you as well for your prompt reply. Just another note - my husband did spwak with a manager at the store and they refused to warranty any issues that were the result of this faulty install. I will wait for someone to get in contact with me. Understand that they are busy with the holiday season, no worries. Will be patient. Thanks again.

No, Thank you for your patience during this busy time. I can certainly understand why you're looking to get this looked at closer and a moderator should be by soon. If you have the yellow copies that we gave you at the end of the installation, please have that readily available too!
